“Our Olive-Egger Stormy has just laid her 1st gorgeous green egg at 20 weeks. She’s quite a character being the nosiest, the first in line for treats, very chatty and friendly (when she wants to be) It’s been a joy to raise and watch her grow into a gorgeous blue!”
We are so very happy to hear about Stormy! She sounds like she is just a joy to have around even if she is a bit on more vocal side - she just has strong opinions! Please let us know if you ever need some assistance with a question or perhaps ordering those treats that she and the girls surely seem to love!
“Back with the egg report for our little Clove. To be entirely honest, I was slightly worried, because as she matured, Clove came to look exactly like our Chocolate Maran, save the fact that she is slightly more plump. Today, however, I was reassured, as we received her first gorgeous green egg! We have had two different OE chickens in the past, but Clove's egg is easily the prettiest OE egg we have gotten- fern green, with a few tiny brown speckles. She was so proud of herself this morning, and came running up to me as usual, clucking loudly, as if to say, "Mom! Guess what???" Looking forward to another beautiful egg tomorrow.”
Thank you for sharing Clove’s egg update! A fern-green egg with speckles sounds absolutely magical, and it’s so sweet to hear how proud she was. It sounds like she’s thriving and bringing you so much joy. Here’s to many more beautiful surprises from your special girl!
“My second olive egger from MPC just started laying, and like the first (now several years old), she doesn't lay green. She lays a med-dark brown egg; the first lays a cream egg. Now that I've had more time with my first OE, I can say she's broody about half the time, and I'm really hoping this second one isn't as broody. So far she's been a reasonably prolific layer, and the eggs are beautiful, but since I'm 0 for 2 on green eggs from this mixed-breed option from MPC, I felt others might want to know. I already know the genetic chances of this happening, but if you're looking for a colorful egg basket, you may want to move past this option.”
As fellow flock keepers, we are so happy that this little one came around and is doing much better. Please let My Pet Chicken know any time when we can assist you. We are always happy to be here to help!
“My little Olive Egger, Clove, is the best chicken of the bunch. She runs over to me every time I am in the coop (and that's at least four times a day!) Loves to talk to me, and is very agreeable to being petted, sometimes even leaning against my leg. She is the most fearless when interacting with our chicken guard dog, Cooper. Our friendliest chicken by far. And she has feathered feet! She is thirteen weeks, so no eggs for another few months. Will come back with the egg review when she starts laying!”
We are so very happy to hear little Clove is doing well and is such a joy to have around! These little Olive Eggers are known for their wonderful friendly personalities so we are sure that she will continue to be a great addition to your backyard flock. Please let us know any time if we can ever be of any assistance. My Pet Chicken is happy to help!
