“Extremely happy. This was meant to be a short review but I need to get my enthusiasm for MoeBot out of my system. My family and workmates are getting sick of hearing about it so here goes...
I was fully prepared to be disappointed because I wasn't expecting much from robotic mowers in general. I figured they'd be under-powered, fragile etc. I just assumed they were a cool concept but wouldn't be useful technology for a couple more decades - if the fad didn't pass completely before then.
I'm happy to say I was very wrong. The MoeBot is incredibly resilient in its handling of a real-world environments and managed thick grass (about ankle height), dry sticks, uneven terrain etc. Robust, intelligent design both physically and in terms of its programming. Watching MoeBot trying different ways to get out of problems is enjoyable in itself.
This is the second lowest priced robot mower on the market that I could find but you wouldn't know it from the quality which I would expect from a more well known brand. I can't speak for cheaper mower (since I didn't buy it) but the research I did on the Robot My Life company is what sold me. They clearly care about the products they put out, seemingly put a lot of time/thought into continuous improvement, and have given a lot of attention to details. The little touches are great like the effort put into a well written manual or the cardboard ruler built into the robots packaging which you pop out as a template to help set up your boundary wire the correct distance from obstacles. That type of thing made me comfortable with the expense since I knew I'd have great aftermarket support.
I personally bought this to give me more free time and based on this experience I'd gladly buy from Robot My Life again. Unfortunately I already have a robot vacuum and my dirty windows don't cause me enough stress for me to do something about them (although the robot window cleaner does look cool). Probably next I'll be convincing my 77 year old father with a heart condition to buy one so he's not pushing his old petrol mower around all summer (he's too stubborn to accept human help from me).
Anyone tossing up between the S5 and S10, if price is a barrier, you'll definitely be happy with the S5 because the charge and range is great. Better to get the S5 than not jump on the robot mower bandwagon at all because it'll still be well worth it. Personally, I'll probably look at upgrading the battery at some point to the S10 capacity because, now that I know that MoeBot is this good, I want to optimize what it can do for me. Changing the battery looks like it'll be pretty easy (another example of how much thought went into the design of this thing) but if you have a few hundred dollars extra to spend then it might be worth going to S10 from the get go.
Only complaint is that it hasn't saved me anytime yet because I've been sitting on the back steps staring at it going around the backyard.”
Hi Terry, sorry for the delay. Your product was shipped the day after you ordered on the 29th and was delivered on the 16th. Being peak season and you being located 160km from Brisbane this is not unusal. We are glad you have your MoeBot and sorry the delivery was not faster, but deliveries are problematic for all businesses at the moment due to the high volume of parcels being shipped.
“Good value. I had some trouble understanding how zones and remote areas worked but with some testing and experimenting I think I have it sorted. My lawn is basically a bunch if weeds but in about 5 hours of actual mowing time it looked quite tidy.”
“I love my Moebot!
I do wish that it did what my robovac does though - my robovac mapped out the house in its app, and I was able to add no-go zones.
The mower only operates once you've pegged out and connected the wire. The pegging wasn't too bad - I did that first, to make sure that the wire was in the right place, and I did need to adjust the wiring a couple of times.
Burying the wire has been difficult for me though (even though it's only a couple of centimeters below the surface). Chronic fatigue means I can only bury 1m at a time :(
I could also have used more pegs. Although, that's a temporary problem. I'll only need a few once I've finished burying the wires.”
“Couldn't be happier. Got it for 3 weeks now and been getting it to run every 3 - 4 days keeping my lawn looking great especially now in spring when the grass grows quick. I did find that I had to drop is to 2.5 to get the cut I wanted, but was hoping it had the option to move to 2.0, just a little be more. I haven't still found a way to tell MoeBot to return to home from the app, I have to got and open its hatch and do that.”
“Exceeds my expectations.
My yard is a bit complicated with a lot of obstacles, yet moebot seems to manage that well.
Durability of the product only time will tell.”
