“What fun the kids had working together to build the different parts of the farm and then learning about the farm. This tied nicely into our garden-to-table program. We are still enjoying all the lego creating and building new things using or imaginations. Thank you so much for a fantastic resource.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them I feel proud because I could follow the plan and build the tractor. I have made a new friend today playing with the farm LEGO.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The LEGO bricks because they recognised them from their own collections. They were able to build them by following the plans, use their imagination to create their own buildings and develop oral language and social skills through dramatic play.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? It was perfect timing for our class as we had a trip to a farm not long after receiving the kit. The children were able to prepare for the farm trip and then recreate our learning from the trip through their play.

“The LEGO bricks were very popular. Many of the children had been collecting them at home so were experts at building them. We used them for fine motor skills as well as integrating learning with our trip to a real farm.”

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Learners were able to have fun using building equipment to create from a plan and then develop their own creations. Connecting building equipment directly to farming families in our community.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them "I have made my house, it has pigs and chickens" The child invited others to see what his house was like, explaining the different animals he had. Another child loved creating the farm where they go to visit grandparents. The class was able to co-construct the farm closest to school that we had walked too.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The bricks gave the children the chance to create and recreate over time so many different features - the ability to work together, being a new class of 5 year olds was amazing.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Some children had not experienced lego before, this ingited their love of building

“A beautiful donation to our tamariki and their play based learning. They loved using this to explore farming and, as an extension, how fruit/vegetables grow. Once our children struggled to put some of the vehicles back together, seniors came in as a tuakana teina and gave awhi and support.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? We loved the te reo Maori key word tiles and game card. Fantastic way to learn Te reo Maori vocabulary

“What a fantastic kit! My class were so excited when they found out we received the Bricks farm kit and we had so much fun using the kit throughout Term 2. Lots of cross-curricular activities with oral language, Maths, writing, Social Sciences, drama. It was great to see the team work too with students working together to build their bricks. We just loved how flexible all the teaching materials were and the games can continued to be used throughout the year. Thank you School Kit and Countdown for a brilliant kit.”
