Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them "I love to try to make new cars or add things with them". "It's great to do things by myself".

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The jigsaw helped them to focus their other brick pieces and helped to co-ordinate as a team and play together. As a high ESOL class, a lot of children are the only one at home so it helps them to learn social skills and work together with other children.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Enjoyable but becoming too difficult to maintain. Some had the determination to keep learning, some gave up and turned to other pieces. Interesting to see if in Term 4 when I re-introduce what the response would be.

“The Bricks box with all the different things the children could make and use was instantly very appealing and a highly motivational factor for the children in my Year 1 class. However, the children found it difficult to put together and we had to ask a senior class for help. The children usually enjoy construction activities with other equipment and when they tried that with the bricks packs they could not fully restore the originals and slowly they lost their coherence and became just bits. I decided to wait until the fourth term to continue to see if I can use it again with my class, they would be older and they may be able to make better use of all the materials.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Definitely the animals, learning about animal names and their babies. The sorting cards worked well with our inquiry what do our bodies need

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Being a learning through play classroom it’s just ongoing. The Lego is constantly giving opportunities for students to talk and problem solve while they are learning.

“Having the farm bricks in term one was a great start for my new entrants class. It worked perfectly for our inquiry all about us. The children loved how it was set up and they could keep revisiting the Lego to keep adding onto their idea of a farm.”
