Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The bricks because it was a really interactive way for the students (year 1) to engage with learning. Slowly building the farm piece by piece worked to keep a sense of mystery and kept the children engaged.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? This kit built the children's creativity and problem solving. It also helped to build up their teamwork and resilience when things haven't gone the way they planned. These are skills that will stay with them as they move through their learning.

They also wrote about the different types of animals that we saw on our class farm. They enjoyed hearing stories about the different animals which sparked lots of discussion.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The bricks, and the tokens with te reo Māori on them.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? A continued use of te reo Māori when talking about different farm-related objects, and an opportunity tor eview knowledge that may be acquired during out dairy farming inquiry unit.

How did the context of farming allow your learners to explore and develop literacy? It was a great opportunity to practise our phonics when we were looking at the sounds in some of the objects. It supported the tamariki in their writing about farms too.

“The Countdown bricks were a useful resource to lead into our current science- diary farming inquiry. There was a range of different farm bricks that accounted for many different types of farming. The use of te reo Māori for allt he different farm bricks was great. Our only issue was that the suggestions for using the resources were quite challenging to a small class of brand new 5 year olds.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The actual bricks. They love making up games using the farm and it's parts. They continue to play the games during our learning rotations or as an early finisher activity.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? They are more aware of how sentences are constructed

How did the context of farming allow your learners to explore and develop literacy? Having artefacts and a game allowed us to do a lot of speaking. They were excited to share their ideas. The lighthearted nature of some of the games encouraged children to persist even when they were finding the tasks difficult.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The students loved building all the various elements. It encouraged lots of problem solving and once completed sparked lots of conversation about each element (where each vegetable grows, what you can make with them, how all the various farm machinery wor

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? The children loved seeing their lives reflected in the classroom. Many of them live on dairy farms, so to be able to bring farming into a classroom context where they could relate to every aspect and bring in their own knowledge was incredibly powerful.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them "I learnt that I could have fun with people in class who aren't my best friends." and "It was hard to build the truck but I kept trying".

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? We worked in small groups to build the trucks etc. These sessions were great for building relationships between students and for them learning to work in a team.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? This kit engaged all of the learners in our class, it gave us something that everyone loved spending time with. We will have these memories of these fun times together.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The physical farm and accessories - lots of fun, hands on learning. The round tokens with photos and labelled in English and te reo - appealing and useful to match up with the physical object. Consolidated learning.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Perseverance! it took a long time and a lot of patience to get it set up before we even began some of the activities. We will also carry on using the te reo words and phrases that we have learnt.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them I love working with my friends to follow the instructions and build the farm. I really like learning about farm life and creating it in our Lego farm.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? We have used the kit to do lots of creative writing, like what's in the box before we even opened it, then imarginary writing on farms.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? They play with it everyday and are very social with lots of imaginary talk. They recreate certain areas and include different aspects of the farm. It's very inclusive of all children and they work harmoniously when playing with it.
