Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The bricks themselves. THe children were so engaged constructing the different pieces and identifying the different foods. THis lead to many discussions about where our food comes from and what we grow in our own gardens.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? The kits were quite hard to construct for my year 2s. It took alot of team work and cooperation to construct the different parts of the farm. They had to learn to work together

“My class had such a fun time with the bricks farm. Of course they loved all the equipment and building the bricks together. At the start of the year it was a great opportunity to discuss sharing, taking turns and respecting one another, because of course everyone wanted to play with all the pieces!”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The lego vehicle sets were great, the children worked together to build, more experienced children could help those inexperienced ones.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? working together, ownership of a project and flexibility and creativity with the use and set up of the sets.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? They enjoyed the little packets with the animals and people the most and I believe these parts were the ones most used.

“This kit was absolutely amazing. It created lots of excitement and fun which was perfect after all the disruptions of the cyclone here in Hawke's Bay. The use of Te Reo was a fabulous addition. The best part was the oral language this kit created and some amazing learning through play. Many times I heard the children creating a 'storm' as they played and I believe this kit helped them work through their thoughts and emotions after such a stressful event. Thank you.”

“The students were so excited to receive the kit. We opened it together and set it up. However, the buildings etc didn't stay built for long as the students took it apart to make their own creations. However, they use the bricks often and are always using the animals and other accessories to create wonderful things. Their imagination is so incredible and this could not have happened without the bricks .”

“My year 1-3 class loved building the lego. We used it for literacy to create stories and enhance their oral language. Students were so engaged! Students also loved learning about the different vegetables, fruits and animals that came as part of the kit. We linked this with our Countdown Supermarket lego and students traded animals, fruit and veg to the supermarket.”

“The children were very excited when I introduced the large box to them. We wondered what was in it. I gave the children the small bags to open individually and they made up the item and added the stickers. They loved being able to share what they found inside with their classmates. In small groups the children completed the larger models - some needed help and it was interesting to see the cooperation develop. The children enjoyed learning Māori words for the animals, fruit and vegetables.”
