Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The lego kits that needed to be made up were very popular and could be used for many different learning contexts.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Long term vocabulary development, tuakana-teina relationships, the importance of sequencing and following instructions and the chance to continue the learning day after day as the resources have now become part of our regular playspace.

“This was a fabulous kit! The children absolutely loved it and were fully engaged. Great teamwork and communication skills were developed with students working together to build the Lego. We discovered that having some Tuakana to help the Teina was very useful in learning how to read the instructions and learning how to follow the steps. Students picked up a lot of new vocabulary too, with students talking about 'solar panels', 'sustainability', milk tankers', 'troughs' etc. It was really great to have some hands-on learning linking so many skills in a fun and engaging way that lasted well after the kit was completed.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The actual bricks were the most effective - the oral language that comes out of the play with them is huge. However, it was lots of fun to do the technology challenges and see the creativity and oral language flow from these experiences.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Hours of quality play!!

“My tamariki loved this kit. From the mystery of the boxes to the fun design challenges. The tamariki also loved the opportunity to build the farm set with their big buddy class. The tuakana/ teina time was valuable for both groups of tamariki. We are still playing with this kit - there are always tamariki at the Bricks Farm table when this is an option for play.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The trucks because of the realism and there were enough for several children to play together.

“The whole class (yr0-4) loved exploring the parts of the farm and working together to make the different parts of the farm. they enjoyed playing the game and watching the videos to support their learning. we have left the farm out and the whole class enjoyed being able to play with it as part of their class routines.”

“We absolutely loved the farm bricks kit. Our students have loved designing and creating with the Thing, That, For cards. We have been blown away with their amazing creations - they were asked to 'Design a Tractor that can plant trees for a pig." The children have been so engaged in all elements of this kit and have loved exploring all the elements of this kit, especially all of the farm lego bricks too. We will provide the children with another design challenge next week - they are already excited to find out what it will be.....”
