Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The lego farm was definitely the most impactful. It allowed for imagination and play specific to a farm.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Working with their buddy class was a particular highlight and children have asked a few times if their buddy can come back and help them make the farm again.

“The children in my class were very excited to receive this School Kit. As they are only 5 (New Entrants), we had some help from our buddy class to make the farm up. The older children worked with the younger children to build the components of the brick farm together. This was a lovely activity for all the children to do together. We then placed the Brick farm out on a low table so the children could play with the farm. It was an extremely popular activity, however our children kept breaking the models up and were unable to recreate them by themselves. This did cause some frustration with some of the children who hadn't broken up the pieces! I could see how effective this would have been with older children as they would have been able to recreate the models if they got broken. When we played the game, it was fortunate that we had some College students in to work with us. They played the game in groups of 4 children. We had to make some adaptations due to the age of the children, e.g. spell a word, we changed to what is the beginning sound of the word. Due to low oral language, some children found forming a sentence difficult and needed support to do this. I think the game had too many components in it and we found the children's attention wandered easily, especially if they had the lego bricks in front of them, as they just wanted to play with them. Hopefully I haven't come across too negative - we really enjoyed receiving the pack and we will use the lego farm again.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? tokens with the picture and the words, kids loved matching these to the objects in their class farm.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? The farm remains set up in class and chidlren often still enjoy using the games during literacy time and lunch time. It will also be a valuable Te Reo Maori teaching resource.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The bricks themselves were great for our teina to develop oral language around Kaitiakitanga and for sharing and turn taking.

It made it easy to learn to describe things when they were right in front of me. "We argued a bit about who was right when there was some some we hadn't tried."

“The Countdown Bricks are amazing! It instigated rich discussions and questions, which we were able to build on as a class. I was able to show the children how important farmers were to us. We learned about different foods (some that we hadn't tried) and about what animals need to grow too. There were so many different ways we used the kit to tell and write our stories. This has been by far (so far) the best kit for oral language and story writing. Thank you”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Having the reo as well as English as it further developed the students knowledge. Also the children working together in small groups to make the bricks after completing an activity as it felt like a reward for doing the mahi
