Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The farm vehicles were a big hit and the food.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? This kit is a great lead in to our ‘Farmers market’ at the end of the year and will be used each year for that unit of work. The kit promoted much discussion and cooperative play which is so important in a NE classroom.

“The students were completely engaged in the topic. We learned about farming vehicles and how they could be used in different ways for a range of purposes. We enjoyed some technology questions and thinking about how we would adapt a vehicle for a particular purpose on the farm. The students worked in groups to construct the various Lego sets. We learned the te reo names of animals and how to count them. We learned how to ask where is the pig. etc. Most of all we enjoyed playing the game together. Thank you so much.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them I didn’t cheese and yoghurt came from cows. Farmers not only look after animals they make hay to feed their animals.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Inclusion of te reo maori words it, the more you use them the more it becomes everyday language. The blind bags become something special to the kids and they still refer the objects they opened as theirs - including naming them.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Greater sense how and where food comes from - not just the supermarket. My children are not known to have much experience including owning it so they will definitely remember it. They have also enjoyed building it again.

“Bricks were a hit with the class. Related well to learning about growing food and also different animals they we use for food and give us food. Kids love blind bag as we opened them in secret and and needed to write about them so our buddies could guess them. The te reo cards beautifully links to our school curric and are still displayed and used in class.”
