Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Great resource for walls to remind students on the basics and to take a moment to regulate themselves.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? We taught this in class in 2023, and it is being used in the Counselling Waiting Room for students who need to take a moment.

In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence Uncertain. I think it helps them take charge of negative thoughts and emotions and replace them with good uplifting thoughts.

“I found that these resources were helpful in getting started with the students, but they did require some tailoring. I found that I was able to utilise this in Health Classes as well as Form Class time. Our Counsellor has also taken some of these resources to help students in the counselling waiting room.”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Definitely the Traffic light box with pucks.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? I think it has allowed the students to appreciate that sometimes they each have their bad moments and recognising that they can help if they are green is really wholesome and uplifting.

In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence I think it has allowed students to feel more connected to each other. I guess by developing their support systems, students can feel more self confidence.

“The check in box has proved a really great way for some of my students to anonymously tell me things aren't all good. I have really enjoyed getting to explore their parents' first memory's with the kids, though sadly, not many of the parents filled it out and returned it to school. Overall, it has been a really positive experience for my class.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them 2 ESOL students used the Self Daily check in to let me know some important stuff that was going on for them. The Red Zone letter and conversation with me helped them to articulate how they were feeling.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Daily check in with the tokens the kids really bought in too. They loved the diary too and sharing this with their families. The letter to them from a parent/trusted adult and feedback of 3 words from me was very special too. They have not been using the shrink and boost cards so this is something I will keep trying to develop. Maybe they are too young for this component?

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them Many of our students are non verbal, but when I asked them about Nurture club at the end of the term (when we had done the Self Confidence kit) they were able to use their Alternative and Augmentative Communication Device (AAC) or Yes/No visuals to say "Yes" they liked it. One of our verbal students said, "The video was cool". It is often difficult to get feedback directly from them, but we do not think communication barriers should prevent us talking about topics like identity, self-esteem, and self-confidence.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Letters from a Significant Adult - it was really powerful for students to hear/read positive affirmations from someone who cares about them. I think we can assume that students "know we like them", but students self-esteem is so much more vulnerable than we think, and receiving the affirmation and praise was really powerful. The other component that had a big impact was the video on self-perceptions; I think because it was so visual and perfectly highlighted the point that others perceive us differently to ourselves, and we are our own harshest critic.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Being kind to yourself and others

In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence It has been wonderful to see our students begin to interact more with each other, try new experiences, and understand and accept themselves for the unique, special people they are.

How has this kit helped develop student resilience? Resilience is an area of on-going growth for our students. Working together on this kit and having shared experiences has helped some students feel more comfortable in the group, or be able to deal more positively with negative emotions.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? Working with this kit in Nurture club has helped us bond as a group, as I think both staff and students could take onboard the messages. It has given us a common language and an on-going focus to keep checking in and building self-esteem.

“I work at a specialist school for students with diverse needs. Last year we began a Nurture Club for our young woman, as we noticed that the students were not interacting much outside their class groups, and many students did not stong support networks outside of school. Nurture Club was a way to build friendships and connections, and also explore some relevant topics from the Health curriculum. One of the biggest things we wanted to do was support our students self-esteem, and that is when I reached out to school kit for the Dove My Self Confidence resource. And gosh, was I was glad I did! The resources are gorgeous and the ideas in the teaching guide really inspiring. The standout activities for us were the Letters from a Significant adult, and the self-perception activity (watching the Dove video of the police illustrator making sketches based on self and then another person's description). It was so powerful, not only for the students but also for the staff who were there to support them. There were quite a few wet eyes that day! We loved the idea of the 'thermometer' checking-in activity; but we had to adapt it quite a bit to make it understandable and relevant for our students. The students are familiar with the 'Zones of Regulation' resource (they use it daily in class), so we ended up tying it back to this. It would be awesome if there was a simpler version of the cards, perhaps with more visuals. Overall, I think this kit is a powerful resource for a really important topic - we were so appreciate it have access to it.”

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? I teach in a catholic school, so the values align well and helped to put a lot of what we learn into kids speak even more.

“Such a wonderful resourse - I used this with my Year 7/8s and they took so much out of it. We ended up completing 'kindness envelopes' for each at the end of the year where they wrote positive messages to each other based on what they had learnt. They all asked to do it again the next year! Would definitely recommend this resource, it's a great reflection piece for intermediates.”
