Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them I like putting the tokens out every morning. the teacher has to open the box because someone might have posted a red.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The link to the dove videos "One thing I could change" and the drawing video.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? I hope so, just before I taught the kit I put out the class photo and most of them looked at their own picture with disapproval.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? I would do it again because I liked it and the students engaged with it.

“I really enjoyed using the kit, we started off with the lessons on the planner. The students got into posting the tokens. I liked the red form as I felt it was a good way to start a conversation, but was surprised to find it was seldom used. The students enjoyed reading about charging and boosting. I got a bit lost with the planning later and decided to make my own slideshow.”

Sometimes it made them stop and think about how they were feeling coming to school. They liked thinking about how they appeared to others and how they are actually, especially at home. They learned a lot about their classmates.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The activity where they talked about people's thoughts inside and how they looked on the outside - felt they could understand others better. My-Self Daily Check - being able to think about how they were starting their school day.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? The importance of students feelings when they come to school and how this impacts their day. They also have more empathy for each other.

In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence Knowing themselves better helps them be more confidence. They also recognise that others in the class feel the same way they do.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? It would have been better to do in Term 1 but it has kept our conversation going and tied in well with what we currently do with Zones of Regulation and use of Feelings cards.

“Enjoyed this kit but wished I had received it at the start of the school year. I might even try and reuse some of it in 2024. Fits in well with Zones of Regulation and the Mindfulness mahi we have previously done at our kura. Great way of getting the students to check in with their emotions and feelings and be proactive about managing themselves.”

“I endeavoured to teach this kit to a group of students from across a number of classes. Unfortunately, it was not as successful as I would've liked as I was teaching for a short time frame in a different space. Next time, I would teach this kit to my own class in my own classroom. It was quite difficult to follow the sequence - I jumped around a bit which felt awkward. The resource is beautifully presented and constructed.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them I liked checking in and choosing a card. I was embarrassed when I had to fill in a red card. It was good to have a range of responses to choose from, and to help me understand my feelings. I liked hearing the things people said about me.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Student self-esteem was boosted when receiving words/letters of encouragement.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? They will already remember 'filling their battery', which is often heard in class.

How has this kit helped develop student resilience? Students have like having easily accessible tools through out the day by going to the charging station. When they can identify their own behaviours, they then understand and take control of their response.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? I still hear the language still used and we have a regularly group who use the charging station daily. It would be a good kit to start the year with, rather than Term 4.

“We took some time to unpack the shrink and boost cards, really understanding what it was saying. But once we selected some key ones to engage with, the kids enjoyed using the charging station. The tokens and daily check-in went well. I found the teacher's guide challenging to follow. The layout could be cleaner with bullet points, more subheadings or sections. The journals were great, as were the letters. I sent the journals home and many didn't return, next time they would have to remain at school. Students didn't enjoy the red zone sheet, they felt it made them stand out, or be noticed as being red. They responded well to a quiet check-in orally when there was time apart from the class.”

“Before I could begin using the 'My Self Confidence 23' kit, our school put in a mandatory use of the PULSE app for our school's wellbeing. A majority of the children in my class would not engage with the cards in the kit. It is JUST manageable in a class routine to do an online self-reflection. There is a lot of set-up explaining with the kit and my class would need a lot of one one-on-one support.”
