Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them I liked talking and thinking about what makes me me. It was interesting to look at the portraits and make guesses about who they were just based on what they looked like.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The initial resources Digital NZ Portraits, Unconscious bias discussions were really a really powerful start. We got great discussions, writing, and reflection from this.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Their new knowledge of unconscious bias. The peanut butter/jam video was really thought-provoking.

In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence Students being able to be themselves and appreciate their differences, while respecting the differences of others.

How has this kit helped develop student resilience? Our students struggled a bit with this aspect and continuing the check-ins. The engagement wore off a bit towards the middle/end.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? Students being able to be themselves and appreciate their differences, while respecting the differences of others.

“This kit fit in really nicely with our inquiry into Discrimination and fit in with our school values of respect and resilience. We found it a little too time-intensive which was more challenging because we did it in Term 4 (such a busy term!) We appreciated the inclusion of the NZ Digital Portraits because it made it more relevant for our kids and our move towards a localised curriculum. We got some rich discussions from these portraits! The other videos/resources were really great too, but in an ideal world if these could be NZ-based too it makes it much more powerful for our students.”

And I like the box over there [check in box] because it really helps." "I like the boost cards because they help me with friends."

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The daily check in, the caring adult letter because these helped students see themselves through someone else's eyes and be able to communicate their needs to me.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? I think the kit has been incorporated well and added to the other programmes we had, has helped students to consider their actions on other individual and community members.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? .

“I had hoped the discs to show where students were feeling would work but that part of the kit was not well received by my students. The conversation cards generated some excellent discussions. Overall I appreciated having the kit and I am keen to try out the discs again next year as I have seen similar systems working well in other schools. It allows you to connect with those who are not feeling happy even if you are not solving the problem just reminding them you care is sometimes all they need.”

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them I really liked working through the booklet and being able to write things down. It was nice that we didn't always have to share what we wrote - it was more for us and a safe place. (student 1). It was cool doing the circle of influence activity at home. Dad also enjoyed working on it with me. (student 2).

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The booklet - learners loved making this their own, taking it to and from school, and sharing with their families.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? This kit really helped to facilitate conversations about identity and Diversity. It also supported with developing a positive class culture with Intermediate school learners.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them "I never really thought about helping others boost their confidence when I was in a good space, but this has taught me how to do this in a way I can actually do it" "I never really thought my dad thought I'd be anything, like he never really seemed to talk me up or anything so I assumed he just thought I'd fail or do nothing. But now I know he's actually low key backing me to be whatever I want."

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Daily check in with the charge station. I know my kids pretty well, but it's always the quiet one's that are hard to pick up on their mental state. The charge station helped with this big time!!

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? That the people they love truly do support them through everything - even on the days where they make mistakes. Also, the things people remember about us as we grow aren't the ways in which we looked cool, or bought the latest things, but how we treated each other.

“I used the DOVE Self Confidence with my year 8s in term 4. It worked alongside our Navigating the Journey lessons perfectly. Students got to read their letters from home at what felt like the most appropriate time of the term when things were getting a bit low for them and the daunting realisation of High School hit them. It was so amazing to see their faces light up and a few tears shed. Students were given practical ways in which to boost themselves up as well as strategies to help those around them. They were done in subtle ways but had a big impact. Getting them to connect with the people they loved was important too - and identifying the qualities within those people that they value themselves bought them closer to that person. Overall, a fantastic unit that I can re-create next year!!”

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The books were a hit because they helped initiate great conversations and deep discussions.
