Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them It gave me ideas of what to do when I was feeling frustrated. I liked having a place to go and just cool down. I liked the bean bag there.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The envelope idea cards, because it gave the students realistic strategies to try
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? All feelings are ok, its what we do with them.
In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence It hasn't really for the majority of my class, but they are a quite closed minded bunch - for the few who used it, I think they have developed some useful strategies to deal with their emotions.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? as above
It didn't work as well with the group of students I have. I can see it working better with a group that are more open and reflective. My current class although awesome thought they were a bit too cool for this activity. I did however see a couple using it from time to time. I would definitely recommend having it a privatish place within the class as this did help with the few students who used it.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them When my family are busy I know I can approach my teacher. I know my class mates care about how I am feeling.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? My Self - My students did not realise how many differences there were between them, from the house they lived in to how they could approach an adult, to expected chores to paid chores... Also not really being able to state what they were good at or how others saw them. Text signals also helped them to see that they were not on their own when feelings/emotions took over them .
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? It is okay to be different but I need to show respect for others beliefs.
In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence They can self manage their reactions/feelings and have an issue debated in class anonymously.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? Parents were shocked in how on top of all the curriculum to be covered we felt this was important. Positive comments were given by parents.
What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? Positivity, resilience, self confidence
The kit was very beneficial to my class unit. I used it to provide normality in how we all are unique and have different querks, habits that all seem ok to us, but may have feelings of anger/sadness to others. What this led to was a visual display in the classroom of what we could do if we were feeling uncomfortable, angry, sad or even just off task. This included us having a class box that was shared anonymously, of the actions, words or looks that had made us react during the day. We then made a visual chart of actions we could take to self regulate our emotions, E.G. go for a walk, listen to music, go skipping, draw a picture, read a book etc. Students then also stated that sometimes good memories and things that we liked to do could change the way we were feeling. This led to each student taking photos of things they either liked doing, for example a picture of them playing soccer, family pictures, favourite animals, pop groups, a photo of a memorable event etc. and added these onto a poster for each individual. This led to us making a large box, which was painted black and then decorated with paint pens by the students. They also decided to write on the box - MY HAPPY PLACE. Over the term students used this box more often than any of the other options provided to change their mood. During the term students have also realised what they do can affect others in a negative way and they are trying much harder to think before they act. Doing all of these activities have provided my students with a stronger self confidence and realisation that they themselves can have an impact on how they are feeling and what they can do to change that without relying on others to sort this out for them.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them "It was interesting to think about how I was actually feeling during the check-ins. We talk about what zone we are in but it was really fun to read a little phrase on each card." "I really liked getting the letter from a caring adult. It made me feel really good about myself."
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The Letter from a Caring Adult: It was great for the tamariki to firstly think about someone they believed care for them. It took some ākonga a while to think of someone, but when they did think of someone, it made the experience that much better.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Thinking about what makes them themselves on the inside. There isn't too much you can do about your outside appearance and people usually wish they had something different about themselves, but you do have control over how you treat people and the way you carry yourself.
In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence Some were really able to make the connection between their inner strengths and skills and become comfortable with those traits.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? Ability to think about how people's actions may or may not effect our emotions. Ākonga are more willing to engage in thinking about how their feeling and "check in" with themselves and their peers.

Great way for tamariki to start thinking about a variety of aspects of their social lives. Using the portraits was great for ākonga to start noticing that we all judge people and are judged ourselves by the way we look. Getting futher into the kit, the messages in the check in stations were fantastic and actually pretty deep for the Year 5/6 class to start reflecting on. We combined the Circle of Influence activity with a Circle of Control activity and discussed things that are in and outside of our control. This connection worked really well for a few different tamariki.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them One student said she felt it was hard to answer questions honestly in the booklet because it felt weird to be so vulnerable without knowing what was going to happen with the information she was giving about herself. Another said that he tried to be honest, but felt unsure about his answers when filling out the battery pages because he felt like his battery was full but scored low.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The booklet was the most helpful because it provided activities which the kids could relate to.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Hopefully students will focus more on the positives in their life and about their life rather than the negatives.
In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence I don't think it has developed students' confidence, but rather has been a tool to help guide how they can go about discovering their self worth.

How has this kit helped develop student resilience? It has been a tool to help give advice on ways they can go about managing their emotions and responses to situations. I think this is very dependent on how well a student can mange themselves to even be aware of how they need to be resilient.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? It has begun to unlock honesty about themselves. It's so easy for students to get sucked up in what their friends think, say and do, that their own thoughts and feelings are side lined.
What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? The charging station was a good idea to help with charging their own batteries when they needed to, and even better when they helped charge other's batteries too. It was hard to use the red cards because even though students filled out the sheets, when I talked to them about it privately, they said they didn't want or need anything.
It was an engaging tool to help begin the journey of unlocking self confidence. I think their needs to be a lot more to continue this journey.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them "I don't like sharing my feelings and I won't talk about them but with the cards I can express them" "The more I help boost others, the more they are willing to help me when I need a boost"
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? We found the daily check in/charging station to be the most beneficial. Students became more aware of their energy levels and emotions and how this had an impact on their learning and those around them. They were self motivated and reflective of the quotes and messages from the charging station. The red cards were a great tool for students who find it hard to articulate struggles they face.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Awareness of their own and others energy and how we can be understanding and empathetic towards our own and others needs.
In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence Students were confident and comfortable sharing with class mates. Everyone felt safe to express opinions and share experiences.

Such a great kit. Have used previously in my year 5/6 class and found it to be super beneficial for my year 7/8's. They have become more self aware and have learned a lot about themselves and the influence of peers, family and trusted adults around them. Some great conversations about health and wellbeing were had throughout the term. The kids enjoyed reading their forms filled out by an adult of their choice.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them I think these activities were fun and pretty cool, I liked watching the videos of people being painted off descriptions. I liked having my own book and being able to go through all the activities, especially filling in all the details about me and the way my teacher describes me.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The important adult in my life activity, it helped my kids recognise how the adults in their lives view them as I believe they were quite critical about themselves in this respect and it helped improve their self esteem by looking at themselves through someone else's eyes.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? It has been significant in improving relationships between them and their adults, it has helped them be more considerate and forgiving of themselves and others.
In what ways has this kit helped develop student confidence It has helped them recognise that the way they view themselves is not they way everyone else views them, and that sometimes we are too hard on ourselves.

What impact has this kit had on your classroom community? It has helped foster connections and improve resilience, has developed pathways for children to recognise their moods and steps to improve their mood. The token system has been a fun activity for kids to do everyday to check in with themselves.

I found this kit very helpful in my classroom, especially in the first half of the year in building confidence and connections amoingst my kids. Even though the kit was aimed at self confidence it also helped my kids build connections with each other through recognising that they are not alone in the way they feel about themselves or other people.
