What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The kit facilitated cross-curricular learning by integrating math with science through problem-solving and engineering challenges, promoting literacy through written reflections and explanations of record attempts, and enhancing collaboration and communication skills through teamwork and discussion-based activities.
DIY World Records 24 is entertaining and inspiring for my kids who love challenges. We had fun ideas for breaking world records at home, and used your step-by-step instructions for creating everything from the tallest tower of toilet paper rolls to the longest paper airplane flight. The activities are accessible, requiring minimal supplies, and they encourage creativity, teamwork, and persistence. Its lighthearted tone and colorful illustrations make it appealing, and the simple instructions ensure that anyone can try their hand at setting a new record. It's perfect for sparking friendly competitions and creative play. It was also awesome that it timed in well with the Olympics.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Literacy, maths
I found this to be a very well thought out resource with lots of amzing learning oppurtunities. The plan was thorough but allowed enough scope to adapt it for my classroom. The only problem I had was fitting in the time to attempt as many records as we could, when my timetable was already pretty full. It's not something you can easily squeeze in here and there. I loved how the DIY records helped maintain our positive class culture with the collaborative elements needed to complete each record attempt.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Reading, Writing, Maths, PE.
My class loved creating their challenges and then completing against each other to be the record holder. We explored adjectives - positive, comparative and superlative and then used a range of superlative adjectives to write the challenges. Students worked independently or in mixed ability pairs. There was a great deal of reflection as students trialled and refined their challenges to ensure precise language. The officiating of the challenges to find the record holders was perfect consolidation for the measurement learning we did this term.

What was the most unique record achieved and why? we set the timer for 15 minute periods. Our weirdest one was children spinning around and singing at the same time. One child only lasted 13 minutes but had to be sent home afterwards as he couldn't stop vomiting. He vomited 12 times.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? This unit was integrated into maths, social sciences and health. It could also have blended itself into science, and we did look closely at the Guiness Book of world records
The kids were really enthusiastic about choosing a world record that they would like to compete in.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Social Sciences - learning about history of records
I felt that, for the time and effort involved, the actual learning value of the DIY World Records was less than I expected. It felt stilted, especially using the world record creation cards to create fun record categories. Students found them difficult to use wanted to race ahead. The mathematical thinking element therefore happened quickly and then it was mainly fun rather than deep learning. I used it for a senior class and perhaps it would be better for a middle class. My students didn't really get into it as much as I had hoped.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Mathematics; geometry (shapes and angles), Social Studies; learning about differences, Physical Education; ability to throw and aim with a range of equipment into buckets.
Super engaging kit, the class absolutely loved this kit. An excellent resource which allowed the students to engage in a range of challenges. This promoted critical thinking, managing self and learning to follow through. Students enjoyed planning activities that they and others could complete themselves. This not only motivated my students to achieve their goals but learn in a fun way.

It was great to work on a kit that was very topical to what was happening in the world - it made students super invested in what was happening. It was also great to work on one that was quite collaborative and involved a lot of our students at the same time.

This unit tied in really well with our Olympics inquiry. Students were able to research world records. The biggest learning from them was having the courage to give some of the challenges a go and having the resilience to keep going when it got tough. Students naturally encouraged each other and some great friendships were made. They also learnt about winning and losing and it isn't too bad to lose. And it feels great to congratulate others even when they didn't quite make it.
