How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? measurement of time and distances mainly - but encouraged lots of discussion around math vocabulary and terms.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? This has been an opportunity to 'front-load' my English language learners. They have been able to go back to class and share their success with others. It has also made them experts to share this experience with others in their class.

What are three words that describe the activities in this kit? Fun,active, involving

What was the most unique record achieved and why? Keeping a feather in the air, with their breath. Not sure if it was that unique, but it was fun for my groups and lots of language around floating, blowing, fluttering etc.

“Great resource - I have used this with a math and language focus for my English Language Learners. The cards are helpful as prompts for them to put together sentences and think of the parts they will need to include. In addition we were able to use math language alongside the records that the students were measuring - made it a fun activity to boost their language and learning.”

How did the kit components encourage mathematical thinking for your students? The kids were so engaged in the concept of the records that they were using everything accurately and efficiently, and didn't really even notice it was real maths

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Writing (sentence structures),

“This kit is fantastic to incorporate maths into topic learning without the kids even realising! My students very quickly took on the roles of judges, timers, measurers, etc. and did it with precision to ensure accurate records. I was very impressed by the quality of the resources, and the digital versions were great too as I was able to share the kit with a team member who did it with her own class. Will definitely be using this kit again!”
