What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We connected with the NZ poetry collection 'Skinny Dip' which is aimed at young adults and their experiences at school. So this linked well.
How did using art as the context allow your learners to explore the themes of racism and inclusivity? The connection was powerful for the students.

How did this kit help your students understanding of art with a purpose? Very well. The understood that the artist drew inspiration from what was happening around them in their everyday lives.
A beautifully presented resource that linked closely with our conceptual curriculum focus of Wellbeing. Lockdown hugely disrupted the unit and although students could work on some aspects at home the overall impact was lost. The final exhibition had to be cancelled too which was a shame. I would love to try this unit again in the future.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Selecting art that students want to engage in and can relate to that builds their understanding of racism and inclusively.
How did using art as the context allow your learners to explore the themes of racism and inclusivity? Using art is a good concept however it should be relatable to students. Also it should take I little bit if time and thought for students. I did not feel that this 'dot' example did.

How did this kit help your students understanding of art with a purpose? They did not really get it in this case.
The concept was good but the artist example was too abstract for most students to relate to.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have gone on to look at what acts of empathy we can carry out ourselves, and now understand this could be as simple as saying “how are you?”
How did using art as the context allow your learners to explore the themes of racism and inclusivity? Year 4 are still quite egocentric, and this was an easy way to get them looking at others around them and think of the impact of our actions on others. We have many cultures represented at our place, and children spoke about the learning long after the un

How did this kit help your students understanding of art with a purpose? The art itself was simple enough, that it was easy to simply unpack the result. Children were engaged, and gave thoughtful responses. In the past we have tried to get them to understand quite complicated concepts through complicated art. This is a much be
This kit fitted in with some of our big ideas this year - diversity, culture, and empathy. The children were interest and engaged, the resources were spot on. We were able to easily link this to our connected curriculum learning. We will absolutely use this kit again, and again. It helped us work on one of our CORE values -empathy) from a different angle. Thank you to the sponsors, this was a great kit. Particularly as we worked through our second year of COVID, lockdowns…. Children need the social emotional content. Thank you to the sponsors, you have made a difference in our class.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Possibility of exploring art in other cultures - in this sense it made me look into how art is used elsewhere around the world.
How did using art as the context allow your learners to explore the themes of racism and inclusivity? Found this kit quite difficult to figure out, in general. The context was a bit vague - there didn't appear to be as much support in how to implement the kit in class (although I may have missed something?!).

How did this kit help your students understanding of art with a purpose? It didn't seem to make much of a difference, enjoyed the process of making the art but there wasn't a lot of connections made - but this may have been because it was difficult to implement contextually
Not the best kit I have had!

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Adding another layer to our NZ histories curriculum. Connection to the Simon Sinek circles and exploring the ‘why’ in our learning
How did using art as the context allow your learners to explore the themes of racism and inclusivity? It gave a different group of children something to connect through. The concepts explored are deep and some children find it hard to connect to, using the art created another level for understanding and connection.

How did this kit help your students understanding of art with a purpose? Our Art tech teacher already explores different artists and their purposes and so this tied in beautifully with the work she had already done. Making connections to our local history as part of the NZ histories pilot programme was relevant and helpful als
Was a beautiful resource that looked at important issues through a new lens

Students were able to take this further and look at a variety of creative pieces and the tools, techniques, features etc used to communicate a message, feeling/mood, idea. How did using art as the context allow your learners to explore the themes of racism and inclusivity? Stephanie's letter was a great talking point. Students also enjoyed creating their own Kindness poems. We really enjoyed looking at some quotes about kindness and the discussions these led to.

How did this kit help your students understanding of art with a purpose? The students could discuss and explore the ways in which the various artists had prompted their audience to think about the issue. They were able to look at a range of medium and techniques. They were then able to apply their knowledge to create their own
We enjoyed the range of tasks. This was a spring board into a more in-depth inquiry into the ways in which creative expression can bring about important conversations around issues which we feel passionately about.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? I think I would redo this earlier in the school year rather than later in the year and really set up the deep converstaions of respect, tolerance, kindness and get our class values established around this unit. Definitely a great starter unit.........We
How did using art as the context allow your learners to explore the themes of racism and inclusivity? We shared and discussed our art and how no one's looked the same, just like them. We valued everyone's art just as we value each other. Everyone did the best they could and just as some people are better at certain things such as sport or maths or art the

How did this kit help your students understanding of art with a purpose? Children were operating more at a surface level of completing art piece. However when working on kindness and remembering "If you can't say something nice don't say it at all" children understood but in the heat of moments didn't act on!
Unfortunately, we went into Lockdown with the start of using the kit but managed to use a number of resources. Kids loved working with stamps and taking their creative art pieces home to show their parents. This was when we discussed no art pieces looking the same and valueing what children had completed. Hares and hounds was a great game in PE
