How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It was a great way to approach the topics and I loved that the wheel made it so clear what part of the curriculum we were relating to.
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Absolutely. We went local first and that might be what slowed us down as we then heard about other similar stories and discussed those too.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? It was a great way to blend te reo and te ao Māori with Social Sciences. It also gave weight and credibility to the content.

We ran out of time to look at many cards / areas so this will be part of next year's learning too. Overall this is a great resource and I love the diverse range of topics and history it looks at. It was too big for a term 4 project unfortunately but I am looking forward to getting back into it. We did strike a couple of issues finding the answers to tasks with the suggested search in past papers, but that was good to encourage a bit of creative thinking on how to get the answers.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I felt like I was confident in terms of content but it gave me some great ideas in terms of activities and how to engage students with specific aspects of history through the stories.
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? Yes there are several topics that already covered some of our local history and could be used as a model/building block to develop new content with similar activities/skills.

I did the Something Happened Here School Kit with my Year 10 class for part of Term 4. I really enjoyed the range of different stories and histories that were presented and felt like there was something for everyone to be able to engage with. I gave the students agency to choose what story they wanted to engage with individually or in small groups. They enjoyed learning about different stories but found some of the tasks a bit repetitive. Having done this at the end of the year didn't help here and I would like to teach it next time earlier in the year and link in some of the stories specifically to units we study.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? I felt a little more confident though wish some more of the links to the cards were completed so it would match to the learning we were doing at the time.
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We live close to Ratana so I'm looking forward to exploring that topic next year.

I ordered the kit a little later in the year and initially, it took a while for me to wrap my head around it. As I was looking through the kit one of my students saw the flour sack and it started a huge conversation about where it came from, what happened there and what the place was like today. I found the items much better for catching my students' attention than the cards. The cards however were awesome for driving home the need to understand pepeha and how it connects us to places and people. With a little more time to unpack the kit I'm sure it will be a regular feature in our class.

The kit was great and the resources were all relevant to my students' age and interest level. I teach year 5 and 6. The information was self explanatory and easy to apply to my lessons.

I would like to thank those who created this resource- fabulous content and we will use it again and again. The importance of having resources to support the learning ( ours and our tamariki), that focuses on local history is key. You have simplified the journey by capturing some of the stories in one space. The content navigator was gold as it is quite a bit to unpack. We are as a school at the beginning of what we know is a long learning journey.

How has this kit impacted your confidence in delivering the new Aotearoa NZ's histories curriculum content? It has taught me a load more about Aotearoa's history, has given me more ideas about how to get students working with photos, and given me more knowledge about the online resources available and ideas of how our students can use these.
How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We had already been exploring our local history but at a fairly superficial level. Now I'm more inspired to get our students researching for themselves some of our local stories.

What was the impact of knowing the stories in this kit were developed in collaboration with their iwi/whānau/community? I think that has been a real key to making this such an awesome kit. We have talked about getting our local community involved in our school's local history inquiry but it's been hard going so far. This kit has given me a reminder of how important input from our local families will be for learning about our areas' real history.

This kit takes you into some of the more fascinating little stories from our country's history - You know, the ones they never taught you at school!!! It is great to be able to study the photos (real photos, not just one a screen!) and to learn about the people in them and the times that they lived through. I really like this kit, but it has one fundamental flaw - It is a real mission to match up the kit's lovely tangible items to the postcards. I ended up spreading them across the floor and working my way through the postcards one by one on the website, scrolling down and trying to spot which photos matched with something in the sea of items in front of me! It took ages. Once I'd done that, of course, I was then stuck with trying to work out how to keep them together or to label them in some way so that I didn't have to repeat the process. Nowhere can/could I find any documentation to list which item goes with which postcard. This is my only criticism of this kit. Otherwise, ... The stories are great. The information given and the links work well. Shame that some of the postcards are redundant for now - are these going to be completed? Regardless of this, the stories are great, then lessons into how objects are used by researchers are brilliant, and I love the fact that students can really get absorbed into their story, feeling that this is their own real piece of research. Is the website and the links for this kit going to stay live? - we have teachers who now want to use this kit again next year, and maybe on-going.
