“The postcards, artefacts and website were a real hit with the students, allowing them to touch, feel and engage more with their tasks. The 3 different stories and levels of work were awesome for catering to the needs of the students. As always another amazing resource that makes teachers' lives easier and the students get authentic knowledge that has been well researched.”

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? We do have a basic understanding of our local history but I am interested to explore that more now.

This kit has improved my confidence because it was really well resourced, so allowed me to understand more about the topic I was teaching, but also how to start teaching towards the new Dos and Knows of the new curriculum.

How has this kit motivated you to explore the history or your local area? Could you use this model? It certainly motivates more because I could see the model being adapted to local histories.

“The "Something Happened Here" kit was a great way to teach historical events through people's experiences and perspectives. There is A LOT to unpack within the different topics and associated stories, and if I'm honest this was a bit overwhelming at first. However, I just focused on one topic which was 'Ahi Kā - Takaparawhā, Bastion Point'. I did find that the student website and format of the whole kit better suited my higher-ability learners than my lower-ability learners, who often got lost on what they were meant to be doing but also the level of reading on the site.”
