“My year 1 class really enjoyed this kit and it was perfect timing with looking at it after returning after lockdown. I found that it brought my class closer together, and students enjoyed sharing their stickers with a buddy after sitting with different people each day to eat their lunch. It was also good using the cards to identify how people are feeling by looking at body language. The class really enjoyed this kit and liked the analogy of the battery.”
“This was a very timely kit - we started using it upon return to school after lockdown. We linked it with our school values and the treaty we had set up at the start of the year. They loved the playlunch challenge and it encouraged new friendships which continues without kids necessarily exchanging their dots. The battery charger we linked with our zones of regulation and the calm breathing techniques we were learning. As always an amazing kit which allows for integration into classroom based units and activities. Thank you :)”
“Wow! What an amazing kit this one is. I have thoroughly enjoyed using the kit with my class and helping the children to develop some healthy respectful relationships and to recognise what a respectful relationship is. This kit has helped my children to foster new friendships, to step outside of their comfort zones, and to do small acts of kindness (or care) for others. In doing so these children have made good friends and in some cases found similarities and made friends with people they did not expect too. The resources were well thought out, simple to understand and great to use.
In particular, my class loved the visual booklet that helped them to engage and spend time with new people. I loved this as it was easy to see who played together regularly and who tried to make new friends. When the ";stickers started swapping"; others wanted to join in and this motivated some changes. They were encouraged by the ";rainbow charts"; that they tried to fill up.
I loved the battery and felt that it was useful to see when children came into a class where they felt they sat on the battery. It helped after lockdown to see why children felt ";flatter"; on some days after others.
The questions were great prompts during circle time and helped us to learn new things about each other and make friends. This could tie in really nicely with the Zones of regulation - and the carpet was the perfect spot to go and ";recharge your battery. It was a nice way for children to have somewhere special to stand/sit and breathe. Other children would see them use the mat and started asking questions like why do you feel sad and how can I make it better for you. I love that they are talking about their emotions and helping others. This is thanks to School kit and your resources.
I loved how the kit was so helpful in getting the children to recognise, identify, and respond to their own feelings and how their peers might be feeling. My class of new entrants definitely grew in their knowledge and understanding of emotions and feelings. I loved watching the children share and connect over how they felt and how others might feel.
Well done School kit on another fantastic kit and THANK YOU. It could not have come at a better time as after lockdown we needed to spend time building relationships and understanding how each of us felt. This was the perfect resource. Thank you.”
“This kit was perfect for helping my students to identify and perform small acts of kindness. They gained a clearer understanding of the positive impact these acts can have on forming and maintaining positive relationships with their peers. By the end of this term most students have been able to identify at least one classmate they have spoken to and played with that they hadn’t previously had any interactions with. This kit has helped to bolster confidence and resilience in my students. Thank you School Kit!”
“This has been a wonderful resource to use in the classroom with students. It has made students more aware of the different relationships we have with others. It made the students think about their actions and how we can help others and ourselves and why connections are important. The class loved the battery visual and enjoyed recharging themselves with positive energy. Thanks school kit for your excellent resource.”
“Loved this kit! So perfect for my class coming back to this after lockdown. We also faced other changes within the class after lockdown so it felt like starting the year again! This resource was fabulous in helping us set up the culture of our 'new look' class. We altered this kit slightly to focus on kindness and how to give compliments and speak kind words. The children swapped stickers when kind words were spoken.
The battery was a big focus of our class too and they loved 'charging each other up' with kind words. Such a great way to get them to start thinking about others! Another fabulous kit - thanks!”
“I used the respectful relationship kit alongside the Te Rito Toi resource. I had planned to start this kit towards the end of term 1 but with the lock down I had to put it to one side. Once we returned to school, I thought this would be perfect for our return. My school wanted the first two weeks to be about relationship building, reconnecting with our students and asked us to engage the Te Rito Toi program to re-settle children back into a school atmosphere. I used this kit to support that work, we spent time examining our friendships, feelings and how we can express how we feel. It was awsome! The children loved the opportunity to share and connect their feelings and use the songs and resources to talk and open up. During our recent thre way conference at school I had amazing feedback from parents, saying that the two weeks of learning around feelings and relationships really helped the children make the transition from lock down easier and they loved all the new songs that they had learned. This was an amazing kit, especially for those children that found it hard to share! I love these kits”
“This was the first schoolkit I have used and I was so impressed. The resources are so well thought out and useful, and very well made. Such a variety of cross-curricular resources within the kit. Thank you! We had to postpone using the kit due to the break in Term 1, so it was an ideal way to get kids thinking about other people's feelings when we returned to school in May. I was actually very impressed how the children (5yr olds) were able to discuss, notice and be aware of feelings of their own, and others in our school playground and classroom. In particular they really enjoyed the Playlunch Pals project. The kids had a reason and excitement around including a variety of children in their play. It is a highlight of their day, swapping stickers! Thank you for such a well put together resource. I look forward to the future kits.”
