“I loved this resource. This has been perfect as we have been talking so much about feelings and inclusion since the lockdown. My class loved the ";Play Lunch Project";. They really enjoyed swapping stickers with someone that they played with and it encouraged them to make some new connections. The charging station was also a hit. It was useful for me to see how the kids were feeling when they came to school each day and gave me an opportunity to discuss what was making them feel charged or flat.”
“This kit tied in so wonderfully with our focus on hauora - especially taha hinengaro. We used a number of the videos to spark thoughtful discussions. The children especially benefitted from the Play Lunch Project and the video clip about sitting with someone new at lunch time. The poster has motivated the children to think about how what we do affects other people (which ties in with our Learner's Qualities which are Key Competency based. The children loved the fresh look of the equipment/resources and we will continue to use many of the ideas from this kit for the rest of the year e.g the class battery and recharge station. If anything, I would have liked more videos/resources that appealed to the youngest of our learners... perhaps equipment to make a glitter jar from the 'Just Breathe' video?”
“The resources supplied with this kit were perfect in the post lockdown period encouraging discussions around feelings, kindness, and what makes us happy. I found the more detailed information about how to use the resources very helpful. The Playlunch Project was a real hit and has helped my class get to know each other better and push themselves out of their comfort zones a little.”
“Another high-quality resource from school kit! So many facets to explore and very poignant after Covid 19. Empathy and learning how to respectfully treat others is always a key topic in New Entrants and this kit allowed me to support the students learning in a fresh way.
I have also been pondering how to start coding with my class for a couple of terms now but I didn't really know where to start, but now I do!
It's a resource just like the farming kit that I will delve into again and again. I like the way you don't have to start at the beginning and systematically work through it. When the students find something particularly fascinating we pause and do some deeper exploration into that area.
Thanks School Kit for your innovative ideas.”
“Loved the play lunch project! It worked fantastically well with my students. So well that they have mustered up a way to keep it going without any more spaces or stickers in their book.”
“This Kit was a fantastic resource to use after lock down! The students found the visual aides particularly helpful in managing themselves. The class atmosphere was great and the students have enjoyed working together.”
“Fabulous kit! I found this kit very relevant for our class at the moment. The battery is great as a visual to see what children need a chat with the teacher. We adapted this to suit our class by putting each child's photo on a magnet. In the morning and after each break the children put their magnet on the colour they are feeling. A quick glance helps me see if everyone is in a good space to learn. An easy way to pick up any issues. This kit has led to great discussions and given the children strategies to stand up for themselves and speak up when something isn't right for one of their friends. We will be continuing to use this kit throughout the year. Thanks so much for such an amazing kit!”
