Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit I just made sure I though about them beforehand - there were a couple I chose not to raise e.g. tye period one as I knew it would get silly responses

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? A lot more children talked to strangers online than I realised and they did not see an issue with this.

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit My class is a composite Year 4-6 grouping so I felt that some of my students were too immature to handle the content of some of the more mature topics and therefore I just adapted these to suit.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? I was confronted by how many of my students have been engaged in unsafe practices online.

“The materials provided helped to facilitate deep class discussions. The scenarios provided were relevant and helped the children to think about the decisions they would make in different situations.”

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? No surprises, I am a dean and I have seen and heard a lot - might surprise others but not me

“This kit was incredibly difficult t o follow for what is also a very difficult and important topic. It was hard to know where to start and some things were hard to make the connection to for the kids. We covered the ring of gyges - which was interesting but the link to the clip was pitched a bit high for my Year 7 group. Also looked at the AA Milne poem disobedience - difficult for the kids to make the connection on that one and limited support in the kit to help the teacher, felt 'left to it' I am pretty good at being 'left to it' and coming up with my own content but with something as tricky as this topic more direction would have been appreciated - much too loose and confusing to navigate.”

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit The subjects themselves are pretty uncomfortable but the way they are put is very helpful and necessary!

How comfortable were you in approaching the more mature topics in this kit?

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? A lot of kids say they have really strict boundaries around the internet at home, yet they still have ended up in sticky situations.

“I loved the visual aides and the more challenging and uncomfortable subject starters. The lesson ideas are awesome and the resources can be used in so many different ways. It's particularly good to have kit about some of these harder questions that would be a real challenge to plan for.”

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? How silly they were which made me wonder if it was that they were more nervous to talk about some of their experiences.

“As a teacher I loved this kit. I loved the content and the teaching lessons. I was really looking forward to using it! I had the first few weeks of the term planned for it. My class, however, didn't seem to engage with it. We had a few good discussions but I really struggled to get them to talk. I don't know if it's because most of them hadn't experienced some of the topics? I am also struggling with behaviour this term which didn't help. I will definitely be trying this again with my class next year”

The range of experiences that the students were given to explore the topic was varied and interesting and made the topics relevant for the students for explore in a safe way.

“The resource provided a great range of materials and was delivered in a varied thoughtful way. It was a great way to engage the students in meaningful discussions and allow them to explore the topics in a deeper more meaning way.”

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? They have really developed the ability to look at issues from a range of perspectives, not just viewing from their own worldview.

“This kit really helped my students to think differently about how they behave in the online world, and the interactions they have with others online. The 'making wise choices' task was particularly good, and they loved responding to questions using the marbles!”
