In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? My perceptions about their interactions online changed. I realisd they are talking to a lot more people that they don't know than their parents realise. I learned about Omegle! Ask them what Omegle is (Y8).

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit My students are Y8 so are quite open and savvy about the internet and online activity. They are very keen to talk, my biggest challenge is managing their language and excitement when they start telling their stories of inappropriate things online.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? How much they wanted to share and talk about online experiences.

“I found the resources and Teacher links for PD so valuable. I do struggle with knowing how to implement and would prefer a more structure lesson plan format, but I could just be old fashioned. My students and I definitely learned from each other and had some very frank discussions.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? I thought that not many of the children in my class would have experienced something that made them uncomfortable online, but a lot of them had and were oblivious to how this could have been dangerous. Opened my eyes!

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit I felt it was my duty to be sensible and provide them with very matter of fact advice. A lot of children in my class might not have someone neutral they can talk to, so I felt it was important to step up and provide them with this.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? How understanding and empathetic they are to each other, how insightful they are, how they can provide fantastic advice to other children.

“This was a very relevant School Kit for my class. With children into gaming and apps like TikTok, this provided some excellent examples and also strategies to help them if something interesting or uncomfortable came up. Children clearly knew their offline boundaries but had more trouble pinpointing their online ones. We went throguh scenarios and worked in groups and I have noticed a positive change in how they hopefully are going to be safe online!”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? Students are communicating more and more through online mediums now and i am very aware of the difficulties that arise.

They are important topics as this is what is happening to them online.

“This school kit was outstanding. Current, relevant and engaging. It allowed for rich discussions and co-constructed expectations. Would be great to include some ways to get families involved. Family are always asking us as a school for help to manage safe on line behaviour to support them with their child on line.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? As I play the games my students do they often talk to me about their experiences online. The things we discussed were the same things I was already aware of.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? How they had a much clearer view of boundaries offline compared to online.

“Love all of the hand on resources and how it is bilingual rather than having to request one or the other. Definitely a resources I will use again and take aspect of to design our school's digital curriculum. Thank you for creating something that can be used over and over to support students in a digital world which is what is needed most.”
