What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? That many students had few online boundaries from their parents.

“This kit was so wonderful for getting the students to realise online boundaries. Many of my girls actually had few boundaries from their parents and so were able to create their own boundaries to keep themselves safe. The conversations were thought provoking and students were completely engaged in what was happening.”

In what way did your perception of the issues relevant to your class change? The responses shared by the students acted as bit of a wake-up call. I had assumed a greater level of parental support ans supervision at home than is actually occurring.

Please describe your comfort level in delivering the more mature content within this kit Timing is important. This Kit would not work as well if undertaken too early in the year. As a class, everyone needs time to build trust and ease in sharing with each other.

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? Although generally, I find my students willing to share, I was surprised at how working htrough the kit encouraged everyone to participate what they thought.

“The kit was really well put together and suited my Yr 7 &; 8 students perfectly. Using the kit at this time of year worked well in that students have built up trust in each other as a group and are comfortable sharing ideas and experiences.”

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? It was interesting to find out how many of my students were able to access their device during the week as oppose to students using device only in the weekend. How some issues we think are harmless but has a deeper and worst consequence when we discussed

“I really enjoyed this unit. It is very relevant for my students at this time. It created an awareness of the impacts we have online interactions. The topics and discussions were engaging for the students which made the conversations were very high level and critical.”

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? There knowledge of what already were the potential dangers out there.

“Excellent resource and very appropriate for Yr 5/6... I like how it was gently introduced by looking at off line boundaries first. The videos were engaging and very appropriate. I felt the programme worked best by allowing several sessions on the one day to build continuity.”

What was something that surprised you about your class throughout the teaching and learning of this kit? How sophisticated the empathy from some students was compared to others. It also engaged a lot of the students who don't contribute as much during whole class teaching and had them putting their hands up to make suggestions or give examples from their own

“This kit was a useful tool to approach an array of situations regarding the online/ offline connection. It was very thought provoking and started many great discussions with my class. The students found it very engaging as it was hands on and based on a very real/ relevant topic to them.”
