Diary of a Turtle helped my students better understand the impact plastic waste can have on marine life. Agree
My class were really engaged in this topic. They enjoyed learning about turtles and seeing the journey around Aotearoa that our class turlte Bobo went on. It was also exciting for the students to learn about the impact of pollution to our environment. Although we weren't able to go and clean up a beach, we still enjoyed collecting rubbish around our school knowing it wouldn't get into the drains.

Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The posters with facts were useful because they gave clear, easy-to-read information that helped the children understand why keeping the beach clean is important. Turtle tracking was useful because it showed the children how far turtles travel, where they rest, and what areas need protecting to keep them safe.

Diary of a Turtle is a fun, light-hearted and engaging text that students quickly connect with. Written in a diary format, it gives a humorous peek into the daily life and thoughts of a turtle, making it both entertaining and easy for children to follow. The kit supports literacy learning well, offering opportunities for reading comprehension, vocabulary building, and creative writing. Students enjoy the relatable voice, the simple humour, and the way the story encourages empathy for animals and their environment. Overall, it’s a delightful resource for classroom reading that sparks imagination and discussion.

This by far has been the BEST School Kit of all the one's I have used. The students were so engaged and exctied about the learning. I know lots of the students were event educating their whanau at home about the important of ensuring we look after our waterways. The variety of activites were all thoroughly engaging and meaningful.

This unit was highly engaging for my Year 1's. They loved following our turtle and we still are doing check in's and calculating how far she has swam, real life maths that has taken us into the 100's. They have really taken on the message that the rubbish they may drop at school could still make it into the ocean.
