Was there a particular component that struck a chord with your class? I think self-image was a big conversation point. We tied it in with our learnings around puberty and the changes in how we look and feel about ourselves.

Was there a particular component that struck a chord with your class? Thus far (as we are still completing this kit) it was interesting for some tamariki to see values repeated throughout their circle of influence multiple times. The circle art is a great visual representation of our uniqueness. I received lots of messages from whānau regarding their letters. They enjoyed filling them in, it made them really think and I look forward to seeing the response of our tamariki when they open and read these.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? We are in the early stages of completing this kit and so far it is a celebration of diversity. I look forward to building on this as the learning continues

“We are still working our way through the Self Esteem Kit and to date have completed our circle of influence sheets, collaborative poem and values circles. We have taken our time working through the activities so we can deeply understand what it means to have values passed down through our whakapapa. This kit has required a slower pace of teaching and learning alongside careful explanation. I am working with a Year 5 and 6 class and our goal is to help build resilience in ourselves and peers. We look forward to completing the second part of this kit in Term 4.”
