Was there a particular component that struck a chord with your class? The Circle of Influence Map resonated with my class, helping students reflect on their trusted adults and the positive values they share, which strengthened their connections and support for one another.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? The legacy of this kit will be a lasting sense of empathy and resilience, helping learners support themselves and each other while thinking critically about media influences.

“This unit helped students build resilience and understand themselves better. The Circle of Influence Map let them think about the trusted adults in their lives. Activities, like Track My Strengths, showed them how to grow, and watching Reverse Selfie helped them see how media affects body image. The 10-day survey gave insights into peer pressures. The final exhibition showed their strengths and the importance of empathy. Overall, the unit helped promote positive behaviour and self-awareness.”

“This kit really supported my class to share their feelings and learn how to overcome some issues they had with self Esteem. Some of my students are now more confident to lead in small groups and to see different points of view as not a personal attack on them. It has been great to see their progress.”

Was there a particular component that struck a chord with your class? The statistical inquiry questions were fabulous conversation starters about how we are influenced by those around us. It tied in beautifully with the ideas of stereotyoes we were looking at this term.

How has this the kit influenced the way in which students speak to each other? They are able to use some of the language of the strategies when we talk about self management. It hasn't had a big impact on the way they talk to each other so much.

“This was a super cool unit, had a lot of components to it. Studnts enjoyed the self check in part of this and gettting their parents/relative/caregiver to fill in the information sheet about them.”

Was there a particular component that struck a chord with your class? I was really pleased with the 'What makes me' writing that we created as a result of the teachings in the kit. We linked back to Te Whare Tapa Wha and our emotional literacy for this, it is a great to see that learning is taken on board and can be explained in their own words.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? It will stay with them as the components of this unit are threaded into everything we do on a daily basis at school.

“I found this school kit to be very relevant to our current health units at school. We are a MITEY school and the content of this kit aligned beautifully with the themes in our units that we have been teaching. The kit was full of simple but age approrpriate lessons and learnings and it was very well suited to year 7 and 8 akonga.!”

How has this the kit influenced the way in which students speak to each other? They are still working on this. There are those will very low self esteem who are still put others down. We will continue to support these students.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? The kit has increased the students awareness of our uniqueness, helped the students to be more resilient and given them some tools to managae their stress and anxiety.

“The activities were fun and engaging. My students used the daily check-in activity well, which helped me to gauge their well-being for the day. Some students had difficulty completing the Circle of Influence charts with trusted adults, as there are a lot of complex family situations in my class. Building resilience is still an ongoing need in my class so the self-care, self-belief, self-respect, and self-awareness charts are helpful for this.”
