Was there a particular component that struck a chord with your class? A particular element that was amazing was the 'circle of influence' as it drew in whānau to the conversation and learning and also emphasised to tamariki the importance of surrounding yourself with trusted others.

“Having different types of check ins are really useful. My learners liked the novelty of this kit's check ins. I liked having a range of check in quesions that I hadn't thought of before. This helped me capture a better understanding of how my learners were doing.”

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Building there emotional capacity especailly being away from home as international students.

“I have used this kit with international students in my ESOL class. This topic can be hard to deal with when unpacking different cultural belief systems. The circle of influence was a great tool to help the students bring the important people in their world into learning discussions. The Rise and Shine station has been our starter discussion, and I will weave this into 2025 lessons as part of a pastoral check-in with ESOL learners as the resource almost takes the pressure of students feeling self-aware as it becomes a collective focus first before their own reflection so they see these feelings are normal. Thank you for thought put into these resources and this is a kit that will be used across time not as a one off unit.”

Was there a particular component that struck a chord with your class? I think self-image was a big conversation point. We tied it in with our learnings around puberty and the changes in how we look and feel about ourselves.
