How did this resource help students understand process of elimination using data analysis? Using the information in QR codes was a fun component of the kit. They had to be systematic in their approaches and learn how to eliminate the data that wasn't important to their investigation.

Did this kit increase your students awareness of the skills needed to work in the vet industry? Yes, they really are detectives! We had some deep discussions about the need to be specific when questioning and looking for clues. Also about jumping to conclusions without factual evidence and making informed statements/conclusions.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? Some students found the unit hard - because it required critical thinking and the 'answers' were not immediate. This was great at stretching the tamarikis perserverance and their groups communication skills. Some students loved it because they love animals and it gave them a deeper understanding of the role of vets and how important they are for animal care/health. One parent told me her son loves science and he found this kit a lot of fun. The work with Scratch took time, but our 'computer whizzes' took pride in giving their classmates masterclasses when they found new coding blocks to enhance their stories.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? Students enjoyed the hands on aspect of this Unit.
“I used this kit with my Year 9 & 10 leaning support students. The students have limited critical thinking skills and I found it esay to differenciate the activies. I used picture dictation in my literacy class to introduce the stories which the students loved. We had small group activities which the students rotated around. Our last activity involved some staff memmbers bringing their dogs in for a visit tothe 'Vets'!”

How did this resource help students understand process of elimination using data analysis? Some students absolutely got it, and diagnosed correctly. Others never got as far as the diagnosis (the end of year came too quickly!)

“This kit is very engaging. The students loved learning about being vets, and I am sure absorbed a lot of valuable information. My only quibble was that the materials were hard to follow - there wasn't enough support for someone new to Scratch (but a class session with Jo was great!) and the diagnosis folders were empty, leaving me to have to figure out what went where. Also, it was laborious getting all of the You Tube links off the site and on to my Google Classroom - surely there must be an easier way to share these than to click in each one, copy and paste the link. A little bit more care with compilation would make the teacher's life so much easier!”
