Not Effective
Somewhat Effective
Very Effective
How did this resource help students understand process of elimination using data analysis? This was included in an engaging and non threatening way. The students were determined to do their best to diagnose the animals. A lot of extra googling and independent fact finding ensued - the class were hugely engaged and finished with a far better idea of data analysis.
How well did the resource help students better understand the world of veterinarians?
Didn't help at all

Great challenge!
What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? It was their favourite so far! Every week they would ask if it was time for story vets.
One of the best kits so far! My year 6 students absolutely loved this. As a class that already does a lot of computational thinking, this was right up their alley. Adding animals to this was genius.

If I could copy and paste my students’ report comments to their whānau it would speak volumes about the positive impact of the learning in Term 2…and…we didn’t even get to ‘scratch’ the surface of the entire kit! Students were engaged by the science/veterinarian language and in making connections with the fairytales/fables. These in particular gave a different perspective on how we approach problems and the causes and effects of our actions. They loved the X-rays and posters because it required they think deeper beyond the surface. The entire kit challenged the learning across other curriculum areas because we made sure all our reading, mathematics and writing had direct links to or inspired us to search and make connections - a real life career that demonstrated the true integrated value of life long learning. Thank you! Just wish we’d had more time to do it real justice!

This was a most excellent Schoolkit. Our Inquiry topic was Life and Living, with one of the Enduring Understandings being - All living things need certain conditions to thrive. The Story Vets fitted in so well. I can say all the children were engaged, from the wondering about the animal pamphlets filched from the local vet, to the fairytales (I have some EAL children who were unfamiliar with all the tales) and to the actual diagnosis. It was great to see some of my lesser able writers coming to the fore with their logic and questioning, being admired by their peers. And to top it off, I fluked a principal observation on one of the afternoons we were using the QR codes and asking for test results. She loved it, and commented on how 'on task' everyone was. There was an excited buzz in the room. I have carefully packed this away to use next year, I can see wonderful links to literacy, even if it doesn't exactly link to that Inquiry topic. Thankyou for the opportunity.
