“We really enjoyed the challenge of this kit! We liked the maths involved with the kit and actually getting out there and figuring it out!
We found some of the counters difficult as they were inaccurate and hard to remember to use them.
Overall Room 34, liked the challenge and realising how big NZ is, but small compared to the rest of the world!”
“My children loved being able to work in groups. They did a lot of their own research. Often we would make links to what they were learning in Maths. The pedometers were awesome to have but not very accurate and would often go back to zero. I few of my children used their own watches.”

“It was amazing to see the students to get really involved in this! Due to time constraints with such a busy time at school we unfortunately didn't get as many people as we would've liked. But the collaboration and team work that came out of it from my class was amazing!!”

“Great kit, the hands element was really motivating for the students. All the classes involved with the kit worker together along with parents over one day to try to walk the length of NZ”
“Thanks for another amazing kit. My students loved the Maths, designing Brain Break activities and testing the pedometers. We went for a big walk around our local neighbourhood, played games outside and got donations from our friends and family. We managed to walk from Cape Reinga to Hamilton or 520 km’s.”
“We walked and walked and walked...so close but not close enough. Awesome kit, and we made it student led where the kids took charge of organising the day. Thanks School Kit! Another great day with the kids in the classroom.”

“We were late in getting stuck into this kit, due to heaps of disruptions in our class program.
The class enjoyed working with the pedometers and reviewing which were the more accurate resources. A few of my mathematicians really enjoyed calculating the steps and using their measurement knowledge!
We worked alongside our collaborative class (my co-teacher will add any pictures taken) and we decided to donate our steps to each other.
We haven't fully completed the length of NZ but that hasn't stopped a few students taking pedometers are lunch and continuing the challenge!
I think if I had this kit at a different time of the year we would have achieved the goal.”
