“Our Year 8 Class had an amazing time trying to Walk the Length of NZ. Unfortunately we didn't make the whole length but we got the length of the South Island up to Bulls. We had a great time doing the walkathon at school and working with the data afterwards!”

“Great kit. Definitely got the kids thinking about the scientific method for testing the pedometers (some are DEFINITELY better than others). Some of the ";marketing"; that my class did to get steps donated was interesting too - Didn't consider it when ordering the kit.
Would definitely use again”

“We were late in getting stuck into this kit, due to heaps of disruptions in our class program.
The class enjoyed working with the pedometers and reviewing which were the more accurate resources. A few of my mathematicians really enjoyed calculating the steps and using their measurement knowledge!
We worked alongside our collaborative class (my co-teacher will add any pictures taken) and we decided to donate our steps to each other.
We haven't fully completed the length of NZ but that hasn't stopped a few students taking pedometers are lunch and continuing the challenge!
I think if I had this kit at a different time of the year we would have achieved the goal.”
“Well.... last week 97 students from Matarau School took on the walkathon challenge!
Collectively we walked from the top of NZ to Dunedin. Not a bad effort in one day.
Very tired kids! We also used it as a school camp fundraising opportunity.”
“Room 4 have had a blast unpacking their 'Walk NZ' kit and have spent quite some time working with the maths behind the kid and developing the fair tests to compare the pedometers. We are struggling to fit in our walking event but have set a goal to get it done but have learned so much in the unpacking stage and preparing stage. Some of my boys were convinced the shoelace lights were not a pedometer and so opened it up to investigate and confirmed their thoughts. So many discussions and awesome collaboration during the end of Term 3 and beginning of Term 4 while we have been doing this. We are looking forward to calculating the steps and seeing how far we can get down NZ!”

We are yet to record
“The Walk the Length of NZ kit has been amazing so far! We are yet to record our steps (production year at school so been busy) but so far, the students have loved the authentic and hands on learning.”

“Thansk heaps School Kit for this kit. My class loved unpacking the maths involved and loved getting outside and running around clocking up steps. Unfortunately, we didn't quite walk the length of NZ, but they still learnt a lot and had a lot of fun going through the process.”
