Thank you once again for another great resource that kept us going at the end of a busy term, I am looking at using it again at the start of next year with my new class.

We kept trying to get this kit done after reading 'Diary of a Wild Boy' where he walked the coastline of NZ. Finally we got started with our walking. The kids were hoping we would go on a class walk but instead they were happy to walk around the school. The kids planned how this would happen during the day. They chose their preferred step counter, planned the route, worked out who would walk when and how they would keep track of their steps. Lots of maths learning and teamwork was evident! Only 30km was walkedbut a good bit of prep before camp. Thanks School Kit - we will keep using the step counters.

This was a great resource that linked in well with our Unit on measurement. The students loved experimenting and discussing The pros and cons of each pedometer

Learners enjoyed inquiring into all the different pedometers, how they worked, and which ones they thought were the most accurate. We found it difficult to get steps donated from our community (busy time of year) but completed a pre camp walk which helped to boost our steps. Very impressed with learners engagement and creativity with brainstorming ways in increase steps

We were late getting this kit started due to other committments at school but this was a very successful maths unit. The children loved the hands on component of it and it fitted nicely with our work on working together collaboratively - we couldn't walk the length of NZ on our own but together (plus with the help of family and friends) we could. Love love love this unit. Bridget

We want to collate the huge number of steps from accross NZ, please share your final number with us. That is written on my whiteboard at school and I can't remember. Will add it to my FB post tomorrow.
We were a bit delayed in starting our walking, due to a very busy term three. However our year 7 class were really enthusiastic when we got started. I loved the discussions that came up regarding average step length and the variations in accuracy of the different pedometers. We had some steps donated from family members as well which helped to boost our final total. I will share some photos on the School Kit FB page later today.

Great kit that allowed students to test out different pedometers using a scientific process. Students were engaged and had a lot of fun all the while coming up with great questions to find the answers too.

Once again School Kit you have produced a magnificent cross curricula school kit. We have loved this kit in particular as it fits in well with our DMIC MATHS! It's all about the context and making mathematical connections. We can't wait for the Writing Kit in 2020. School Kit Thank You
