We want to collate the huge number of steps from accross NZ, please share your final number with us. na
This was the first school kit I have received. The teacher resource is great, I like the step by step information. Unfortunately, I have not used the kit yet with a student/s as I work in a health school and it did not fit in with the students I had this year. The resource is still sitting by my desk ready to trial next year.....watch this space.

We want to collate the huge number of steps from accross NZ, please share your final number with us. We haven't quite completed the steps, but did manage 273,400 or thereabouts from our calculations.
Another great resource and it really had students thinking about the length we walk daily and how our steps are all completely different sizes. They really enjoyed the different pedometers and trialing them. The shoe lace was completely left field and some students genuinely thought it measured their steps. This was another great discussion tool for the learners and practical as always. Tied in really well with our math unit

A great exercise to keep children moving. The enthusiasm was so great we even ran on the spot while participating in silent reading. The discussions around the different pedometers was interesting too with children liking different aspects of each. We plan to use them again when we go on school camp.

I used the resource across a Year 5 to 8 class. They thoroughly enjoyed the hands on activities and resources. We found it motivated the less active students and being able to record their distance and steps kept them wanting to do more. They enjoyed the maths challenges and having the opportunity to research the length of New Zealand etc. Not all students enjoyed or responded well to having the different types of pedometers and those that didn’t operate accordingly. They just wanted to get out there and walk the distance. We also didn’t get to invite the families and communities to participate in our challenge with us. Will definitely look at doing this again next year.

Another great resource by School Kit! We integrated with Health/PE and Numeracy (Statistics). Great problem solving too!

My class really enjoyed measuring their steps and figuring how many steps there were in a given distance e.g How many of your steps are in 10m? There was a lot of rich maths language and working out going on. I look forward to continuing on with this unit for the rest of the term. Thank you!
