This kit was very engaging, even if we didn’t make it to the top of New Zealand. Loved how it met a variety of curriculum areas. Easy to follow the plan

We have completed the Walk the Length of NZ. Unfortunately some of the pedometers were not reliable enough for our class to complete the challenge by themselves so we added our kms together with the other 2 classes in our pod and we got there! Thanks again for a great resource, we enjoyed it last year and again this year but this year was actually trickier!! Thanks from GG1, GG2 and GG3 at Ellerslie School.

We want to collate the huge number of steps from accross NZ, please share your final number with us. 332,700 steps on the day but 1,583,800 over the week we did it - luckily we could rope in a few classes to donate steps as well
Awesome resources to start with! The students were so excited to test out each of the different pedometers and they quickly realised which were the most reliable and which were the most convenient to use. They really enjoyed working out the length of their strides and it was a great introduction to conversion. Although we didn't quite get there in the end it was an amazing pack to go through together.

A great collaborative kit! We loved using the range of pedometers and track our steps in different ways. A great little competition to push us further to see who could get up the most steps across the week. Being able to track the steps was great too, learning about NZ and using google maps to explore the different cities was awesome.

We want to collate the huge number of steps from accross NZ, please share your final number with us. We had 118 students, 15 adults and 3 dogs, and we all walked 8 km. That's a total of 1112 km plus some donated steps. There were 4 classes involved with this project and this is our combined effort
My Year 5-6 class loved this kit. They enjoyed exploring the different pedometers and completing a PMI chart on them. They also loved calculating their step and using it to work out the perimeter of various places in the school. The highlight was the 8km walk and everyone was proud of their efforts. Thanks School Kit!

We want to collate the huge number of steps from accross NZ, please share your final number with us. 30 Students, 1 teacher and 2 teacher aids on the nominated day walked 10,000 steps and our whanau in total walked 180,000 steps. Our total was 510,000 steps. Cheers
I was actually out with a back injury( been off 3 terms) while the students where working on this kit. I have had a look at the kit and the students enjoyed telling me about the ojects within the kit and showing me how they work and how far they walked. Thank you School Kit. I will reuse this kit.

I loved the way my Year 2s and 3s tackled this problem. They had very little previous knowledge about measurement and also little knowledge about the geography of NZ! It was awesome having the discussions with them about walking on water across the Cook Strait and how to climb mountains successfully! The maths learning was also fab. We got stuck into standard and non-standard measurement and estimating.
