In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? Students developed an understanding that water is connected to all things living. We didn't find many fauna in the stream and students decided that this was linked to the poor quality of the stream.

“Our students loved getting out and exploring a local stream in our area. They enjoyed working as a team to complete the experiments and discussing their findings. The resources and activities completed prior to heading out into the field prepared the students make predictions about what they might find.”

“My students loved getting out to the river and getting involved in taking measurements. They particularly enjoyed getting in the water and taking samples of the bottom as well as measuring along and taking the cross-section measurements of the river. They found drawing the bottom of the river fascinating. This kit was fantastic, the children found the aspects we measured fascinating and loved discussing the health of our local river and what we can do help keep the environment healthy for the creatures that live there.”
