What opportunities have arisen for future learning from this kit? We are still looking for a better site to safely test. The flooding at the lake was a limiting factor in what we could test. Another local site that needs monitoring is Forest Pools. We should be able to do all the tests there, taking our students there o

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? Testing in our local area provides data from which to make choices for the future. The local lake Omapere has issues, children from our school have been involved with planting around the area. We have been to educational days where one activity was water
We feel privileged to have been able to extend our water testing equipment. We have been out in the local area and used the equipment. The students were actively engaged, able to work with real scientific equipment in a real time situation. We have tested at a number of sites around out school. The data provides base line information on which to make comparisons and see what changes are happening in our local environment.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? We combined learning with Matariki, Whitebait Connection and LEARNZ to build on our knowledge around Te Ao Māori and how important the waterways were for land, food and people.
This kit fitted our focus on sustainable water environments well. We were able to connect this to our school's learning with Whitebait Connection and a LEARNZ field trip too. Thanks for your amazing work. Sorry for the late response.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? In some ways, we have looked at Maori myths and legends around water. We have some understanding of our local major water ways, however the local Maori knowledge is limited in places.
We are still using the kit until the end of term, as it is very cold and many things that live in water are dormant or not around in winter. The children are doing some of this at school, and the investigation/water work from home.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? We used the kit in conjunction with the Water theme in Enviroschools which had some good Maori legends about water included, some more of this in the kit provided would have been great too.
The kit was comprehensive and well thought out. I found it a struggle to fit it all in during the term, as a senior syndicate we decided the best way to use it to its full potential and ensure we cover everything we needed to was to use parts of the kit and add to a google slideshow which we shared through google classroom and expected to be carried out as homework in addition to the teaching happening at school. It was great, the equipment was top quality. I do feel there could have been a few more resources included that could easily be used in class lessons such as classification sheets and/or some work on comparing rivers/streams/lakes etc especially for the younger of the year groups (Y4/5).

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? This kit helped the students to understand the interconnectedness of water and living things such as plants and how important both are for survival
This kit was fantastic! Our school have the Kohukohunui Project which aims to restore a 1km section of the Wairoa River in the Hunua Ranges. A group of students were to test the water from start to finish of the project and the kit came in handy with that! Unfortunately, lockdown happened and the project was put on hold. The students had begun the project again and were due to return to the river to plant over 1000 trees to improve drainage and in turn the water quality. The planting day was due to be last Wednesday (when we went back to level 3). The kit will still be being used for the remainder of the year as the project comes back to life after this current lockdown. We love Schoolkit and this was the PERFECT kit to use alongside our project. It was gutting for the kids and teachers alike to have this put off again :-(
