What was the impact of the daily stamping practice in your classroom and which water benchmark did your students find most fascinating? All encouraged each other to do more each day - a challenge for which ones you could do in your home.
How have your students' perceptions of water conservation changed since using the resource and did it foster a sense of responsibility and awareness in your classroom? Yes, as this linked into our inquiry and many saw the link between saving our water and the impacts on our environment. They were fascinated by the visual representation of the amount of drinkable water on earth - this really was an eye-opener!

Thanks for the engaging kit. Our tamariki were really engaged and our SeeSaw communication with whanau showed that many were sharing their learning on water saving tips with their families. This also fitted really well into our inquiry (Under the Canopy) and also in time for Matariki.

This kit has been a perfect teacher and student resource for our school inquiry on kaitiaki o te wai - guardians of our water. The videos, experiements and information was really suited for our Yr 5/6 class. The engagement with their own worlds and home was great. Again I enjoyed how you could take elements of the kit and adapt them to fit with what we were doing. This is 100% a resource I will use agan. Having prompts come up with videos and ideas etc on the SK squad page was also brilliant.

Lessons took a bit of unpacking to figure out exactly what to do, but once I had it sorted, it was fine.

What influence has this kit had in promoting the longevity of water saving habits and what other water related topics did your students come up with? Finding out how much water is used to make clothes, electronics, juice etc was pretty mind-blowing for them and, I think, encouraged them to think hard before making decisions.

What was the impact of the daily stamping practice in your classroom and which water benchmark did your students find most fascinating? Only some actively recorded. Some found it annoying to try to record their usage / savings and totally forgot.
How have your students' perceptions of water conservation changed since using the resource and did it foster a sense of responsibility and awareness in your classroom? It certainly made many of them think. As the Year 7/8s in a full primary school, we led the school in a series of activities connected with the World Vision 40 hour challenges. I included a water use focus in my WV based social sciences topic and one group chose to share their water savers learning as their shared topic for the rest of the school. The screenshot attached below shows just one of the slides they made to share with the other classes.

I used just a few of the suggested activities. Watching the containers fill up with water drop stamps was engaging. I appreciate the potential for lots of mathematics with the different benchmarks but it wasn't that helpful when we had other maths priorities and just wanted a quick comparison. We made our own spreadsheet with probable savings based on averages which was more useful for us. It was a bit tricky to get our heads around 'saved water' when most of my kids already drink water instead of fizzy & juice as a rule anyway. And many of the other habits too. So we settled on 'if you are doing this, you are reducing overall water usage & we will record it.' Not sure if that was the idea or not but I didn't find that very clear and I certainly wanted kids who already have a good concept of water saving to be able to include their actions.

Which water saving habit/s were your students most engaged in? Using the chore chooser
What influence has this kit had in promoting the longevity of water saving habits and what other water related topics did your students come up with? I think the kids are now more aware of simple things like actually drinking all the water from their drink bottles, rather than tipping it out for "fresh" water.

What was the impact of the daily stamping practice in your classroom and which water benchmark did your students find most fascinating? It did make the kids be more accountable, funny enough I had a few kids who were trying to "catch" the not so honest kids
How have your students' perceptions of water conservation changed since using the resource and did it foster a sense of responsibility and awareness in your classroom? as previously mentioned not all kids perception was changed as they already had lots of conservation awareness. We did have lots of discussions about dishwashers. Many felt like they fully believe the "Factual information" in regards to water conservation with dishwasher! They became rather cynical.

The kit is AWESOME, however, I feel there wasn't a great amount of learning for my rural students. I work in an area where many students have their own water source. They were more aware of the value of water. But if anything it made it easier for the town supply kids to understand their friend's water habits better.

What influence has this kit had in promoting the longevity of water saving habits and what other water related topics did your students come up with? I have noticed that my students are more conscious of how they use water and are careful not to waste it, especially in the class setting. This followed through into how they minimised their water usage at camp too. Other water related topics they came up with included the flooding in our local area and the impact it had at the camp too, as this made some activities unavailable to them because of the damage that occurred.

What was the impact of the daily stamping practice in your classroom and which water benchmark did your students find most fascinating? They managed this themselves really well, they would remind each other to do it, definitely the showers, it was also their most challenging, it was really good practice though for when we went to camp
How have your students' perceptions of water conservation changed since using the resource and did it foster a sense of responsibility and awareness in your classroom? Yes, they are more aware of how they use water and also preventing contamination to water sources too

A great way to introduce the impact we have on the way we use water, including the hidden uses of water you wouldn't normally consider. Allowing the students to explore the different ways they can make a difference (and their families too) to help conserve the amount of water being used and making sure our water sources are safe and healthy too.
