“After some investigation, I decided to buy the 9 Barista MK.2 for my camping adventures. Once it arrived, I couldn't wait to set it up and test it out.
WHen iunpacking, you immediately feel the quality and craftmenship of this product. It's a little piece of art that I would even just place somewhere to be able to look at it.
Preparing my first coffee! The 18 gramms, just fit into the basket. This makes the optional filling funnel mandatory to avoid spilling your coffee. When I registered my MK.2, I saw that you get a code for a free funnel when buying a new MK.2. I mailed to 9Barista to ask if I could still get this and 2 days later I received the free funnel! Nice service!
In the mean time I have been testing the espresso making. The way you grind your coffee and compress it in the basket, is crucial to get the right results. It take some tries to find the right settings, but once you found them, the result is stable. 23 seconds for an espresso is perfect and gives the best result (as indicated in the manual). Don't grind to fine, it will block the basket and the safety valve will blow open with a lot of steam (scared my wife and children away...)
The resulting coffee is the perfect espresso. In my opinion not enough for 2, but depends on the portion you like.
I use it is my 10 minutes sacred moment to prepare my coffee and escape from the daily pressure.

“All I can say is this thing is nothing short of extraordinary! The hefty price tag held me back from purchasing the 9barista for a long time but I finally pulled the trigger and all I can say is this is one of the best investments I had in a while. I bought a “refurbished” one but I didn’t find a single scratch on it and it was packaged like new.
About the 9barista itself: is it fast? Not really. Is it convenient? Can be, but it’s rather fiddly. Is it super easy to use? if you get used to it.
But is it something that’s made out of quality materials and you can actually see where your money went? Absolutely! It’s also a great conversation starter, and everybody wants to try the coffee it makes. It really is a special object.
If you only make espresso for one or 2 single shots, this thing is almost faster than the heatup time of most machines. Also if you like fiddling and things that feel hand made this is definitely for you.
Not to mention that I actually like making coffee again, and it’s really fun to make real espresso anytime and anywhere. That’s the party trick and you are actually going to want to make espresso in the most impossible locations.”
