In 2024 I purchased an Audi TT it’s taken until Feb 2026 to battle the issues out that I received from Cars2 with the Motor Ombudsman on the back of these issues the MO do not take into consideration any of the below issues I faced & I was only credited my return train home journey of £25.
They advertised the car with a full service history, full valet, bodywork good condition & a full tank of diesel, all windows good.
Until I collected the vehicle that’s where the fun started.
Cars2 failed to adhere to the promises made by Justin to myself regarding all the above.
This included not being able to find the service history book, forgot to valet the car which has lots of dog hairs on the back shelving and seats.
The bodywork had very noticeable stone chips on the bonnet where I was told from Justin to get an earbud & touch up with paint myself.
There was a large chip in the centre of the drivers window where i was told it had passed MOT.
And when I got in the vehicle & turned on the engine there was 10 miles worth of diesel in the tank.
I’m still absolutely appalled by the shocking service I was given & there was numerous times where I was ignored by the team at Cars2 they don’t deserve 1 star.”

Last week I spent almost £20K at Cars2 Barnsley on a 69 plate BMW 4 series convertible. 2 previous owners, the spec I’d been seeking and very low miles.
Supposedly had a Used car check, MOT and Service on 4/11/25 all done by Cars2 with the mileage at that time being 24,624.
I test drove the car on 22/01/26 and I noted the Sat Nav wasn’t working, Rear Tyres seemed to have low tread and a vibrating noise on acceleration. I was assured all matters would be resolve prior to me collecting.
I was told rear Tyres were minimum 4mm as per their policy.
I ended up telling their mechanics what was causing vibrations as apparently their mechanics could not hear the noise (it was a small broken part) and I was told the Sat Nav would work if I paid BMW £80 for the maps App.
In reality…
2 days after collecting the BMW (mileage now 24,640) it cost me £200 to get the Sat Nav to work, it’s had 25 litres of water drained from the rear panels (£100 cost to me), it has a rear differential leak (£145 to repair) and 3 of the 4 tyres were damaged.
I took the car for an MOT 5 days after I purchased it as I just didn’t trust Cars2 mechanics and it failed!!!!!!!
Cars2 customer service was absolutely appalling. The car was purchased with Goodyear run flats on it… they wanted to pay for a cheap tyres to replace them. I refused and demanded branded tyres.
The battle went on for almost a week and only when I ‘Rejected’ the car FINALLY Cars2 offered me £600 to cover 3 new tyres and the Rear Diff repair.
I ended up paying for the 4th tyre so I’m out of pocket again (£164).
The car itself is a lovely car. It’s the appalling service from Cars2 that’s the issue.
I doubt a decent MOT was ever done and their Used car check must have been done by a mechanic with poor sight and hearing!
I have pointed out to Cars2 that it is a criminal offence to sell a car that is dangerous! See section 75 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and they Breached the Consumer Act 2015.
The fact they allowed me to drive 134 miles home with dangerous tyres….. (one had a bulge, one has been Ran Flat and one rear tyre was only 2.8mm) is unforgivable and then to resist rectifying the issues leave them behaving worse than a dodgy back street car seller!!
Please Please Please have a good think before buying a car from Cars2.

Sorry to say that I can only describe them as a bunch of cowboys!!”
“In February, I contacted Dacia to enquire about ordering a new Dacia Duster as a 55th birthday gift to myself, funded through my pension. I clearly explained that I would only be in a position to complete the purchase after my 55th birthday on April 12th, once the funds were available – very likely the week commencing April 12t or at the very latest week commencing April 2h1st. Dacia confirmed this timing would not be an issue, so I paid the deposit and placed the order.
Shortly after, I was contacted by Seth at Cars2, who was very reassuring and reiterated that the agreed timeline was perfectly acceptable. We even discussed viewing the car early if it arrived ahead of schedule. At this point I had absolutely no concerns and was reassured by the commitment shown by Seth.
On March 27th, Carl from Cars2 called to say the vehicle had arrived. I reminded him of the prior arrangement and that I was not yet in a position to pay the balance. In my honest opinion he seemed frustrated and raised concerns about VED changes, which I assured him were not a problem for me. I later received confirmation from Dacia that the car had arrived and that a VIN had been assigned. Again at this point I had no concerns.
On April 15th, my funds had cleared, I contacted Cars2 to arrange a viewing and collection - only to be told, to my complete shock, that the car had been sold. Despite all prior assurances that it would be held for me, the vehicle had been released. While both Carl and Seth apologised, they placed the blame on a decision made by Paul the Principal Dealer.
I raised a formal complaint with Dacia, who confirmed that an apology and goodwill gesture would be provided by Cars2. Subsequent to this I did receive a brief apology - but no goodwill offer ever followed. I wasn’t at a loss financially but I don’t think they fully understood the massive disappointment I felt. According to Seth the “good news” is that the new vehicle should be here soon!
Given the lack of professionalism, broken assurances, and overall poor handling of the situation, I cancelled the purchase and have now chosen to go with KIA.
Date of experience: 15 April 2025”
“Warning
I bought a used car from Cars 2 Wakefield.
From day one it had a knocking the vehicle has been in 12 times. The knocking is still there but Cars 2 say because of its age they can’t do anything about it!
So be aware if it comes with a fault and they can’t fix it you be looking at more expense to repair it.
Mr Craig Shepherd on sales at first was very helpful but after my 3rd visit avoided me and ultimately refused to talk to me. A case of I have your money leave me alone.
If you are promised a courtesy car phone up before you arrive at garage. 3 times I turned up to be told someone else had taken it or there was one available.
A very unpleasant and costly experience!!!!!”
“Possibility the worst organisation I have ever dealt with in the car industry. Beware dealing with this company. Agreed to purchase a car from me. Booked collection on a day where I had to take time off from work. When I contacted the collections company on day of collection they advised me that Cars2 had changed their mind but did not even have the decency to contact me. Will review on all other platforms where Cars2 have presence.”
“Third time for my shims redoing to stop the squeaking, a curtsy car was booked well in advance . On arrival was told my car was first in and could wait it would only be a hour, so I agreed to wait in showroom, I asked if coffee machine was working and told it was .
Coffee machine as not been available the last several visits to this showroom .
I went to get a coffee, luckily there was a clean mug for a change , I used the mug and filled it with coffee , but no clean tea spoons, and the sugar tin had a quarter of a inch of crusty sugar with dried coffee stained sugar in it.
So then opened the fridge to get milk and guess what no milk . I asked the girl on reception whom just wasn’t bothered, so I it’s ok I have water , the water machine is next to coffee machine but with nothing to drink out of , and absolute disgrace and would not recommend them for any of there services has I have been let down lied to, and under appreciated as a customer from day one .”
“Never again shocking customer service. Promise you they will sort scratches and stone chips never did .I was told on purchasing the car it had a full service history for the Kia warranty which wasn't true. Was not told it only had one key.also to be told by the manager well it's a second hand car . Promise you the world to buy it and don't follow it up.”
“Faulty car , they had it back 4 times , carnt find faultv. Not drivable , they have had it since 20th May , done nothing .No Courtesy car , no response from Craig Sales Manger , Customer service team useless .Finance company doing nothing , paid 3 months now for car that I dont have .Totally useless and they dont care .STAY AWAY !!!!”
“Do not trust them. The 3 guys there and the young girl are crooks. The guy in charge
makes up 5star reviews to make them look good. Do not go anywhere near Renault Barnsley.”
“Our first point of contact was Danny, who during the initial emails and phone communication, was really helpful, responsive and I couldn't fault.
Unfortunately, we trusted their word that the car was in "excellent condition" and would be "prepared as closely as possible to manufactures standards"
We were assured all bodywork would be fixed and (within reason as we did accept it wasn't a brand new car so wouldn't be perfect) and issues barely noticeable.
We arrived, having previously agreed the date and having travelled over 200 miles, to be informed Danny was not in (which we were not aware of, and had only been in contact with him the previous day.) the staff member we dealt with came across as uninterested, and as though we were an inconvenience. We waited around 10 minutes before he came back, handing us the keys, offering no help. At 7 months pregnant, I wasn't even offered water while we were left waiting.
On inspecting the vehicle, we found the front bumper to have been knocked out of line, a considerable dent in the boot and large stone chips which looked as though paint has literally been dolloped into and would clearly become an issue for rust in no time.
No one came out to assist us, so in the end we went back inside and explained our concerns, which was met with us being told there was no money in the car for them so it wasn't worth it. When we requested that they return our deposit in that case, there was a sarcastic remark that it was a good job he hadn't started to fill out the paperwork.
I have given it a few days to allow them time to contact us and at the very least offer an apology but they haven't bothered.
Total waste of our time and fuel. Would absolutely not recommend this garage based on our horrible experience.”
“What a terrible dealership Renault Barnsley is. I did read the reviews and thought they cant be that bad. Oh how wrong i was. Think the good ones are made up. Take your money and go to a reputable dealer. Be warned.!!!!”
“What a terrible way to deal with customers Be very careful when dealing with these crooks. Do not trust any of them. Worst dealership i have dealt with. Please go elsewhere.”
“Be very careful if you if you are thinking of buying a car from Cars2 especially Renault Barnsley. If you have fallen for the sales pitch from Matt, Seth, and Ellie make sure the car is exactly what you ordered before driving it away. The best advice i can give you is not to deal with them and take your money to an honest dealership.”
