I bought a wedding band from Chisholm & Hunter in Branch 20 of the Argyll Arcade, Glasgow in August 2024. My wedding band became heavily damaged after 2-3 wears. This ring had previously been returned due to the same problem. I do not have a manual job, I don't even wear my ring to work, I don't wear this ring during exercise. This damage occurred through regular wear for very short periods of time. The ring was returned, for a second time, in June 2025 and I was told I would likely receive a brand new ring. That was nearly 5 weeks ago. The only communication I have received was within days of returning the ring, when I was asked to provide more details in a form. The first time I returned the ring, I also waited a long time before it was ready. Having been married for only around 6 months, the majority of the time my ring has either been in too embarrassing a condition to wear, or has been with Chisholm & Hunter for "repairs". The least I expected after returning a far below standard product, for the second time, was for the matter to be resolved quickly and to be kept up to speed with the process. Sadly, none of this has been true.

Trusting Chisholm Hunter with a simple repair job on a sentimental piece of jewellery has made things worse. On 4 March 2025, I paid Chisholm Hunter to repair my partner's necklace by fixing a new bolt clasp and catch and then re-plating it. I was shocked after collecting the necklace on 30 March 2025 to discover the necklace had only been re-plated so a new clasp and catch cannot now be affixed because they cannot be welded onto rhodium. The store sales assistant agreed that the necklace still look "unsightly" and informed me that the repair-shop notes in their system show the jeweller "decided" the new clasp and catch were unnecessary so only re-plated instead. After multiple attempts to resolve this, I was eventually offered a partial refund. However, an independent jeweller has advised the plating needs to be removed before a new clasp/catch can be added which will be even more costly OR may even be impossible, so the partial refund is clearly unacceptable. I now face more expensive work than I did before entering this contract with Chisholm Hunter. Chisholm Hunter never called me back to process even the partial refund as advised. This followed the same the pattern of multiple promised calls back that were never attempted. I wrote to the email address Chisholm Hunter's customer service department gave me, detailing the chronology of events and why I was unhappy with this breach of contact. I asked for at least a 50% refund plus completion of the contracted repair work, or for a full refund plus a reasonable sum in compensation so that I can either have the repair done elsewhere or replace the necklace if necessary. After over 2 months I still have no reply! I have raised a dispute via my credit card, but this will apparently only result at best in a refund. It does not settle the damages for the obvious loss that I will suffer by paying to have the (now more expensive) remedial work done elsewhere OR to replace this (irreplaceable) necklace. I find myself in a much worse position than I would be had I never set foot in Chisholm Hunter's store at 32 Buchanan Street, Glasgow and my partner is understandably devastated. This has taken a surprising amount of time I could not afford to give and caused me stress I could really do without. Avoid at all costs.

I’m just writing this review to express my disappointment with Chisholm Hunter. I usually don’t do reviews, the last time I got so down was in Schuh where they don’t allow returns if you wore the boots (how else do you know the DM’s would leak if you don’t wear it on a rainy day). This would be the second: Chisholm Hunter’s cut-off time is 12nn. If you ordered by 12:01pm they won’t process it for next-day delivery. They’ll just sit and sleep on it until the next day and then process that for delivery, which means you’ll get your watch TWO DAYS LATER. Like who does that? 12nn who does cut-off time at 12nn? That’s like closing down a shop by 12nn because you’re too lazy to work. Goldsmiths & Beaverbrooks cut-off time is 6pm at least. 6:00pm! Also, I’ve been on guitar shops like Andertons and PMT, the cut-off time is 3pm. For GUITARS. Like 6kg or 7kg bulky guitars, cut-off time is 3pm. Chisholm Hunter only packs these 200gram-max watches. They’re NOT packing heavy things. There’s no excuse or reason that guitar shops could cut-off at 3pm, and competitors like Goldsmiths could cut-off at 6pm, meanwhile Chisholm Hunter cuts-off at 12nn as if they don’t wanna work. My order involves a Tudor Black Bay P01, which is Tudor’s “ugly duckling” that nobody wanted it? But I do. I like the off-looking, different from normal types of watches, and this Tudor P01 speaks to me. It took me about 12:17pm to finalise the order via V12finance because I ain’t rich, I work as a nurse in the NHS but I love watches. Paying £134 a month for 18months should be okay financial-wise. So this is my “fault” now that because I ordered 17minutes too late, 12:17pm in Goldsmiths or Beaverbrooks would be NO PROBLEM. I’d never thought Chisholm Hunter’s cut-off time is 12nn thus the sheer disappointment, it’s just inexcusable. So, as I do like that Tudor, I have to cancel it. Yes, I’m aware the Tudor P01 is discontinued and this may be the only chance to get this brand-new, & not a secondhand in Watchfinder. Seriously, what is Chisholm Hunter gonna do after 12nn? It’s not gonna take an hour to pack a watch. BUT WAIT—there is a happy ending: Robert Gatward has the Tudor P01 in their stock, discounted also like Chisholm Hunter’s. Hence what we all got from this? Chisholm Hunter lost a sale for cutting-off orders at 12nn. Thank you for reading!

Online experience was good. What let you down was In store. I needed links taken out of a Tag watch I had bought. Went to Glasgow Fort butt they didn’t have the screwdriver to do that. They said Silverburn Branch can do it. Left and travelled there to be told they didn’t have one either. Found that pretty disappointing to be honest

Where I do I start!! Saw a lovely Swarovski Crystal bracelet in the window for £85 went in & tried it on, it was perfect. I checked with assistant that it was £85 & she said yes. The assistant then went to the til, then after a hushed chat with another assistant, came back & said the bracelet was actually £115!!! We argued that it had been advertised at £85 but Manager was not having it! It was just human error & we could have it for £100 so we walked out!! I had told the assistant that I had been given money from someone who had since died so it was nice I had found a beautiful keepsake. So disappointed, we found the Manager very rude & off hand! I actually felt sorry for the assistant. Come home & found the same bracelet on Amazon for £80 so that’s Karma. They wonder why the high street is dying??
