“WARNING! DO. NOT. BUY!!!
These scammers are selling fake watches for a huge price markup.
They trick you with the new Zealand website but in reality you're getting a cheap china watch from Singapore.”
“Buyers aware!!! They sent ne different watch ( much cheaper) as I ordered. I send many emails with no response. So I open a dispute at PayPal to report a problem and after that I received email that I have to return watch for exchange. I shipped watch back to Singapure where City watch NZ are located, not in NZ. They received them in few days by DHL, no response again for my emails. After a week I been told to close a dispute at PayPal to get my correct watch . I contacted PayPal and been told to NOT do that and let PayPal to investigate, because after closing dispute I will be not able to opened again. And today my money has ben refunded by PayPal . That has been a worst experience and nightmare to deal with City watch nZ, they are dodgy!!!”
“Dodgy As. I ordered a watch from them in good will. A week later they are promising it has been shipped when DHL are saying they generated the paperwork but no shipment has taken place. BUY ELSEWHERE”
“Not a NZ based site so you get no NZ consumer protection from them. If your goods are faulty you have to send them back, at your expense, and pay for shipping in both directions.”
“They should re evaluate their delivery time frame. And they should change the description in their website. Its like they are fooling the customers.I ordered a watch a gift to my nephew. I did order more than a week before his birthday just in case there are any delays. But since the time frame of their delivery is 2-4 days especially within new zealand. I was confident that my order will be delivered at that given time frame or maybe plus more than a day or two. But voila! A week had passed and I havent received any tracking number from them. I tried to message them from their website to inquire the status but they didnt respond. So I tried to email them using the old message they sent me after my order. Yeah they gave me the tracking number and guess what they havent shipped my order..and what also puzzled me is my order comes from singapore which I thought the watch is within the store inside new zealand. I dont have any issue if my order comes from outside or the delivery is late but they should be truthful wheb putting description in their website. And yeah I am still waiting as of this moment for my order to arrive. And 9 days had passed.”
“I highly recommend you do not buy from this company.
If anything goes wrong with your watch they will not cover it (despite what they may reply to this review). Trust me I have been through this long process.
The company is not in any way related to New Zealand (they are based in Singapore). They own similar companies in Australia and the United Kingdom (to name a few) that are also based out of Singapore. You will also find reviews of other people having the same problems as me at citywatches.co.uk, downunderwatches.co.au, and creationwatches.com.
Essentially this means that the NZ consumer guarantees act has little jurisdiction over them if your watch breaks and they refuse to refund/fix/replace it.
I only had my watch for 5-6months before it broke and they refused to help. It was also a watch that I hardly ever wore and it is supposed to be known as very tough (possibly not real then?). Responses to emails generally take over a week. Eventually, they offered a mere $10usd refund for a much more expensive watch.
This company may also state that their watches also have a manufacturer warranty along with their own warranty (that they don't stick by). Beware, if you go into your watch brand's service centre to claim this warranty, they will decline to fix it under the manufacturer's warranty because citywatches.co.nz is not an authorised dealer of any watch brand.
I respect other people who have had positive experiences, however, in those cases, they are lucky to have not been sent a faulty watch. This review is a warning that if you do get sent a faulty watch or it breaks within the warranty period, citywatches.co.nz will not take any responsibility for it.
I'm sure this review will get some sort of generic response trying to defend themselves. Please just don't risk buying from them or you could lose a decent amount of money if something goes wrong.”
“Worst company ever to purchase from buyer beware!!! These guys are real fly-by-nighters who deal in Casio watches of very questionable quality. First of all note that despite their .co.nz web suffix, THEY ARE NOT a kiwi based company. Secondly, when my watch broke down literally 3 days after the year warranty they claim to provide, they wanted nothing to do with it, despite their obligations under the NZ Consumer Guarantees Act. Stay well clear of purchasing from this company!”
“I bought an Orient Kamasu Diver from citywatches.co.uk. The prices are competitive (cheaper than amazon) and they stock a decent range. My watch was delivered promptly. Completely satisfactory customer experience.”
“I ordered my watch based on the location of Citywatches being a local company to my location. My order was placed on the
Saturday, shipped on a Monday and arrived by Royal Mail tracked delivery the following Saturday. Now I know we have all become used to next day delivery, especially that famous South American riparian named company, but I think the delivery time was acceptable. I am very pleased with the watch and the secure packaging used for transportation. My guess is the warehouse is not manned at the weekend and this should be taken into account when ordering.
I would definitely use this company again.”
“I found the CityWatches website by chance and discovered they had an excellent selection of good quality watches at very competitive prices. Ordering the watch was quite easy, the delivery service was very good and the Seiko watch that I purchased is excellent.”
