“Tempted me to leave a 15-minute precheck line with free 2-week membership. After multiple ID attempts with 2 ID’s(wouldn’t accept me EDL due to “damage”, put me in regular precheck line where they looked again at my ID, boarding pass and took a picture. Clear could not find my information. I got frustrated and got back in TSA line. The woman who checked me in saw me go and made no attempt to resolve the situation. Stick with TSA or even better Global Entry.”
“Representative at airport lied to me. I directly asked if it would automatically charge my credit card, he said “absolutely not, they just want me to try it for free!” Thankfully I had a temporary freeze on my card, when CLEAR tried to draw a $318 payment two weeks later. TOTAL SCAM!!!!”
“I just missed my flight after waiting in a clear line 1.5 hours In Austin, Texas. all the TSA line got through in the flight boarded full except me. The CLEAR rep told me that TSA has a problem with CLEAR in Austin so this happens occasionally. I wish I would’ve known before I missed a flight and my bags are in San Diego now.”
“I paid $200 for "CLEAR" the last time I flew (from Ohio to Florida), and it was an amazing experience. I felt like a VIP, breezing through security straight to the gate.
However, today when we flew out of Orlando, it was the complete opposite. The "CLEAR" experience was incredibly disappointing. All it did was move us from one line to another, then into the cattle roping area for at least 30 minutes. We still had to do everything everyone else did—take off our shoes, belts, etc. Meanwhile, the others didn’t pay $200 for that privilege; it was free for them.
I will not be renewing my subscription, and they even tried to charge us another $200 for a renewal. When I asked the attendant a couple of questions, all he could say was that he didn’t know and I’d have to call the number listed.
"CLEAR" is now out $400.”
“Was not told of any charges in fact was told there was no change. Very misleading people. I should have known better when a man standing there started yelling that it was a fraud.”
“I had someone at the airport come up to me and offered me a free 6 month trial of Clear Me, so I decided to take him up on the offer. Only a couple of weeks later, my credit card is billed for $199. There's no phone number on their website, so I had to Google had to contact them. When I got that number, I got an automated attendant who didn't give me any options to speak with an actual person. So, I just had to cancel the subscription, which didn't even do that. After giving them all of the information requested, the automated attendant, said that someone would review and get back to me. They have no problem paying people to accost you at the airport but can't pay actual customer support people to answer the phone? I'd rather pay for TSA precheck, which is less expensive, for subpar service.”
“CLEAR didn’t save me any time at all. I tried it twice—once at LGA and once at STL—and ended up just waiting in the CLEAR line instead of the regular one, which was actually moving faster. One time, they still asked for my ID to verify my identity, which defeated the purpose. I’m not sure why anyone would pay $199 for a more complicated process. Plus, the staff seemed impatient when the system failed to recognize my eyes.”
“CLEAR has you pay to skip the lines. It is not as good as TSA pre-check, and also pisses off people without CLEAR as their agents will make you skip regular people. Terrible idea for a service, essentially profiting from pocketing your biometric data.”
“Discovered that it, for all practical purposes, is a scam moments after signing up. My experience: spent 10 minutes submitting to an ID check, iris scan, facial scan fingerprinting only to be escorted to a waiting TSA agent who I would’ve reached 10 minutes prior w/o the Clear Plus BS. In essence, you pay $199 annually to be slowed down before being escorted, by a dimwitted Clear Plus employee, to the front of a non-existent line. If you’ve a compelling need to burn $199 burning a hole in your pocket, it’ll take less time to literally burn it. I cancelled before reaching my gate.”
“I had a problem with my account that it was a duplicate account. So I messaged them on the app 2 different times and they messed up all the information. So I called them waited for 15 minutes to get to a representative and then she said she fixed it so I tried logging in again and it wouldn't let me so I told the agent it's still not working. She started giving me attitude that I need to do it again so I did and told her I did and it's still not letting me log in and after all that she hung up the phone on me. Clear has disgusting customer service. They don't understand basic English and don't know how to fix problems just make things worse”
“Clear is not faster. In fact it is slower because you have only 1-2 TSA agents working the lines instead of 8-10 in regular lines. Save your money. Clear is a scam. Do TSA Pre Check with more resources if you want a faster experience.”
“We used CLEAR again at SLC airport last week- on a Monday (non-holiday). The CLEAR staffer told us, “You should go through the regular line (TSA), it’s faster than this one.
This is very frustrating- to have paid for this and to be told by actual CLEAR staff that the CLEAR process is slower than the non-CLEAR process.
We were incredibly frustrated. So far we’ve been directed ‘OUT’ of the CLEAR line two times out of four (only at LBG airport (small airport) did CLEAR work for us.”
“This system is absolutely not worth the money. The clear attendants have to guide you through the line and the system. The system itself is really slow. DO NOT PAY FOR THIS. Pre check is more affordable and moves much faster.”
“NEGATIVE ZERO STARS rating if I could!! I went to Home Depot for a van rental today and could not be verified with a REALID issued from my state. The program just loops and loops. There was no way to be verified with a REALID. It is a known issue, but customer service doesn't appear to care. No help today. No van. Waste of time!!!”
