“I went to the Houston location for And interview soon as the Muslim lady had a problem soon as she found out I was Israeli you shouldn’t hire racist people
To do interviews if they not going to show equal respect”
“Lines were longer than the regular TSA and the Clear+ rep told me to use that as it was faster than theirs! Way overpriced, and I had a family plan and in trying to change my husband's status it billed my card without even asking permission as I clicked it. Over 15 minute wait time to even get an agent to cancel. Am now cancelling my membership”
“At Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport, my husband and I were approached by a CLEAR staff member at a CLEAR podium. We were told that there was a “special signup drive” offering a free CLEAR membership. Based on this verbal assurance of a free trial, we agreed to sign up, believing there would be no charge. At no point did the representative disclose that our credit card would be charged $318, nor did we authorize such a charge in writing, and we were not told of any trial periods.
We recently discovered (three months later) that $318 was charged to our account. When I contacted CLEAR, I was told that CLEAR has never offered a membership, which means the representative misled us. This is a clear violation of consumer protection laws, as we were induced to sign up under false pretenses.
I thought we could trust this company since it was doing business in the airport. What goverment agency would allow a company that gives false information to conduct business in the airport? It is so disgraceful that the goverment countinues to let a company that has so many complaints to operate in a airport.”
“I was approached about joining Clear at an airport as I was about to enter the line for TSA Security. I was told that this would take only a few minutes, and when I asked about cost, I was told, "Don't worry about that, this is a temporary registration, and you will have to sign up via an email sent to your address before any charges are accrued." I don't recall giving my credit card information. I had/have no desire to spend so much money per year to save a few minutes in a TSA line.
Less than a month later, my CC was hit for $199. I had no one to contact from Clear. I had no account number or login, so my CC company just deleted the charge. In another month, my card was charged again. Again, My CC company deleted the charge, and said the only way that they had to avoid reoccurrence every month was to cancel the card and issue a new one, thus that is what we did.
Such businesses should be banned!”
“This is a waste of money and time! I have had the service for two years. Travel only three times a year. Kept thinking I was getting incompetent people running it. Not true the whole system is designed to get your money and do virtually nothing to enhance your TSA check in experience.”
“When CLEAR started years ago it was a huge advantage and worth the annual fee. That has changed over the years and is no longer worth the value. The wait times are the same if not slower than the regular TSA line. I fly a couple of times per week and terminal A IAH was by far the slowest line today. No wonder their membership is declining along with their value.”
“Over an hour wait to talk to customer services. Lied to by the person who signed me up at the airport. They told me I was eligible for a bundle to save $78 when I signed up but enrolled me in a trial without my knowledge, rendering me ineligible for the savings. 0 stars. They suck.”
“At LaGuardia airport people wearing Clear jackets were hard-selling to do a free trial for Clear. I filled out the application and they told me to give my credit card number- telling me it won’t be charged.
Then I found a $500 charge on my card.
Total scam!
Beware”
“This company says you can cancel membership online but there is no links to do so and tried to call with no one answering I would give it 0 stars if I could”
“The lady who solicited me to joining told me repeatedly that I will not get charged if I don’t cancel. Yet she said I can cancel in two weeks. I got charged $318!!
They don’t tell you what it costs
So dishonest. Appalling. They did refund me, but imagine all those who did realize”
“They over charged me and after sending 5 chat messages and waiting over 30 minutes to talk to a customer service agent and never connecting with one, my issue is unresolved. The customer service is awful and I'm not convinced that they didn't engage in bait and switch.”
“I paid my money for a CLEAR membership, but due to poor health was not able to get to an airport to finish the process. When I called CLEAR for a refund, I was told that the time period for a refund had passed, so I lost my fee.”
“Originally signed up with Clear at Miami airport because we were going to miss our flight, even though we got to the airport 2 1/2 hours early. Second time we used it was at DTW, we stood in the Clear line for 1 1/2 hours. When i asked why it was taking so long, the staff were very rude and dismissive, claiming they are at the mercy of TSA! Why did i pay for membership to stand in line!? DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! CLEAR IS A SCAM!!!!!!”
“Representatives said it was a free trial at the airport and then Clear billed you automatically without notice within a couple of weeks through your credit card, and we didn’t even go through precheck lane”
“It took forever to sign up. We were in a long TSA LINE AND WERE TOLD IT WOULD ONLY TAKE 3 MINUTES to sign up. By the time we FINALLY got through the sign up process and got to the TSA agent the people who were in front of us originally were way in front of us on there way to there gate. Once we got the approval, all it did was move us to another line waiting to stand in front of the TSA agent who reviewed all of our info anyway. I see little to no benefit for this service, especially not nearly $400 per year. Another total scam to skim money from anxious travelers.”
“Thank you to the rude staff member that had to walk through security with me and his unnecessary comments. Will never get a clear membership due to the lack of professionalism. So I'm called for!”
“The service so frequently underperforms -- not recognized at airport; cannot update billing information on Web site; call center does not answer phones; help desk does not answer emails -- it is hard to believe this is actually a real company. In any case, for $199 I have only so far ever successfully used the service in Newark. So even if it is a real company, it just does not have product/market fit.”
