“Unfortunately, this is not a good review! My wife and I had both selected your "Slow Cooked Rump Beef with Brandy. The only good words we have for this great sounding meal was it's title. In fact we both go as far as saying, we do not require a refund, just add it toward the cost of a good chef.
At this rate, it is a wonder you are still actually in business.”
“Nothing like as good as they used to be. They used to be a cut above supermarket frozen meals. The prices still are but the food is not. I do hope they pick up again.”
“So disappointed. It always looks so nice and bought my first one today for this evening's meal as out and about. Chicken in soy sauce with ginger. A handful of small cubed chicken pieces, not even a whole chicken breast, no where near enough for two, the strips of ginger and kale were tough and inedible. The sauce was tasty and thank goodness I did extra veg to soak it up! Will not buy again.”
“I have enjoyed several Cook froducts but the Duck Confit I bought yesterday was dire. The sauce was too sweet (and had no trace of the much-needed acidity), the duck meat itself was good but came with a great thick layer of fatty, flabby skin. Because this had been cooked in a sauce it was NEVER going to be crisp and should have been removed from the dish beforehand. It also meant , that when I'd removed it, the apparent amount of actual meat in the dish was much less than it looked. Very disappointing and the dish needs urgent improvement”
“Spent a small fortune on Canapes for Christmas 2022. very disappointed apart from sausage rolls which were ok but have had better from M&S. The canapes that had pastry such as pinwheel spinach and pesto ,thai chicken. The fillings cooked and almost burned before the pastry browned so looked raw. Most all were not worth the price.
I have purchased many food items from them but will not be going back. They have cut corners but still prices are high.”
“I have enjoyed most dishes from Cook for a few years. This week tried your orange and apricot tarte dessert- it was dreadful, so dry and no flavour at all. very disappointed to have to throw most of it away. What went wrong? I did buy this item from a stockist, not a Cook shop so praps that the answer ?”
“I think they call it Grand Fish Pie, anyway a big fish pie to serve 8.
There were 6 of us and we had a reasonable, certainly not large, portion each. It was nice, but not as good as I’d have made myself. And £36! I did expect something more special and certainly larger portions.”
“I purchase Thai Main meal Red Thai Chicken Curry what a disappointment chicken tastless and very bland it appears the chief forgot to at the spices every other meal I have had has been excellent so what went wrong with this one Batch 00061”
“Such a shame, have bought their meals for years. Absolutely delicious , quality has dropped so much, can barely tell what you're eating ! Something has definitely changed, won't be buying anymore”
“Had the beef bourginion all very thin runny gravy very little meat. The side of salmon was tasteless and chewy. Wish I’d cooked it myself or gone to marks and spencer where it would have been much cheaper and far tastier.”
“Dont normally go for frozen meals but thought I would give COOK a try...I am sorry I just don't get the hype...tried savoury and sweet dishes/meals....just not for me at all.....perhaps my expectations are just too high. At least I know now.....good luck to your brand...you obviously do have a 'following'....just not me.”
“Have used Cook over a few years, but now is time to say enough is not enough! The size of the dishes and the quantity of meat and other ingredients in their dishes has really gone downhill. My last purchase, a chicken pie, was really poor. Mainly gravy little chicken. in comparison my husband had a cheaper steak pie from a butchers - larger and full of meat filling. Have found similar issues with their Thai meals.”
“We have had a few of your frozen foods which were ok on the whole. But yesterday we had your cottage pie which was extremely insipid and dry. I am afraid to say the Tesco finest cottage pie which we had tonight was far better and I mean that.
It may have been just a one off cook cottage pie but unlikely.”
“Beef Bourgogne delicious. Dauphinois potatoes far too much garlic. Nut and veg stacks were awful , not a good flavour and horrible consistency. Mince pies were wonderful as usual.”
“I had the chicken and mushroom lasagne this evening. There was 2 tiny pieces mushroom and the chicken was chewy and tasteless the sauce was not very nice either. Very disappointed. Unfortunately didn’t take a photograph and it’s in the food waste bin now!”
