"If you value your item then please don't use these guys.

I sent a set of ceramics, very well packaged and cushioned, to an eBay buyer recently. They were boxed securely, wrapped individually in bubblewrap and separated and cushioned with shredded cardboard and other cushioning materials. I took out the DPD Local 'insurance' to the max value of £50 to cover any loss or damage, and sent off by dropping at one of their parcel shops.

Every one of the 6 Toby Jugs inside was smashed when the box was delivered to the buyer. Bad enough you'd think, but then they wriggle out of paying compensation as described as they say now that 'ceramics' are a 'prohibited item'.

I used DPD Local as they were one of the three carriers listed when the eBay sale completed, by eBay.

These guys are not only negligent and irresponsible in handling parcels, but read their small print VERY carefully if you think they will compensate you for anything they damage. They likely will wriggle out of that. I'd just avoid using them to transport anything you value and which might not work if they throw it about. Safer to find a more professional shipper. Good luck if you do decide to risk it - they're cheap, and the old adage applies - you get what you pay for."

"I used dpd local to move my personal belongings from Liverpool to cardiff, an easy delivery as someone would think. But no, not with dpd!!!! An employee from dpd stole my suitcase, which contained a huge amount of personal belongings and nobody can do anything about it, as they say!!! The suitcase is the one on the right, with the ribbons. A huge one as you can see."

"The service after buying is not honest.
First the quality for the price that I paid (+ big local taxes) was a bad experience. I can understand the argument of the stains but not for the scratches that was on shoes. Then the size of the shoes are 2.5 more than the real size.
To return them with a shipment that you ask will coast me a lot."

"Absolutely the worst I’ve ever experienced!!!

7 large parcels send due to moving. All went to wrong the address. The person who received them has told the driver that these were not their parcels but the driver has insist to leave all the parcels on their driveway. Poor elderly said that they could not to move those heavy large parcels and it was going to rain. But the driver doesn’t care. Then the couple rang me from the number on the parcel ticket, that’s how I know my parcels were missing. I then informed DPD local about this using the live chat straightway and got promised that they would send someone back to collect them and redeliver on the same day, but never happen. Contacted again several time, got similar promise, but never happen. Then few weeks later, I got told that no one was going to collect them and I have to through claim procedure and declare those parcels were missing. Well, then I got to prove the value despite that the value was declare when booking the delivery. That’s not enough, I have to have receipts, bank statements to prove the value. Ridiculous, how would people keep receipt for all their clothes, shoes, books, cooking and dinning stuff etc. After the arguments, they agreed to pay compensation then disappeared! When I contact again, it either go through robot or saying the service is actually carried out by parcel to go, so there will not be able to do any etc. Excuse after excuse.

Parcels were send in Oct 20, now Mar 21. Issue still not resolved. I have kept some chat screenshots so people can see how frustrating this is. However, this site will it let me upload too many photos.

Just to let everyone else know. DPD local is not DPD (the good reputation one). DPD local uses subcontractor Parcel to go, so whatever happened they can just push the responsibility elsewhere. DPD local does not actually have a costumer service line, no actual person to speak to, and can only communicate through live chats. There is no manger to speak to and nowhere to raise complaints and cannot arrange call back. When you get promises through live chats, don’t take it seriously, they just want to finish talking to you ASAP. Their attitude is just being polite so you can leave and wait few more days. When you contact again, it will be someone else’s to deal with the issue. You got explain the whole thing over gain. No one is there to take the ownership to deal with the issue. So you may just ends giving up. Things may seem ok when they don’t go wrong, but absolutely a nightmare if anything go wrong!"
