“I purchased a pink sapphire bracelet on a Hollander America Cruise ship. The original price was more than $19,000.00 US dollars. I have bought pieces before and knew that was not even close to a reasonable price. After much negotiation; the piece was purchased for $7,700. This was conditional on receipt of an appraisal before the end of the cruise. After 2 hours in the gift shop on the last night; I was handed a blank certificate of authenticity; and a made up appraisal. (I was told that the process was to add 20% to the purchase price of all pieces sold). At that point I said I wanted to return the piece as I had no confidence in the appraisal and this was a significant investment. What followed was a high pressure discussion with 3 staff members where I found it almost impossible to get them to understand that I find the business practice to be totally unacceptable. I had to show them a proper appraisal. Ultimately; they GUA R ANTEED that when I got the piece appraised, it would be worth at least the value of the made-up appraisal and probably more. The store manager gave me his personal email and stated he would assist if there was a problem. I have had the appraisal done; the bracelet is worth almost 30% less than the purchase price. I sent the information to the Manager; who had essentially dismissed me and told me to email customer service ( who will not have the whole story). I have been ripped off; never again!”

“Your jewelry is beautiful. I have purchased well over 100 pieces in the 30 years that I have been buying from Effy, but your customer service and communications are terrible. I have been trying to get a new piece of jewelry from Effy made that is estimated to cost well over $20,000. I have been corresponding with Effy (and having phone calls) since September 2025. This still has not been resolved. In spite of that, I continue to have bought Effy pieces, most recently 3 pair of earrings for my daughters, but even that was a bit of a struggle from a communications standpoint.”

“Beautiful Huggies and very sparkly. Unfortunately, I will be returning because I had trouble putting them on. I did not let that affect my review because I think it was more me than the earrings because the clasp easily opened and closed.”

“Communication between customers and Effy representativies has sometimes has been difficult. Effy representatives assume a level of knowledge from customers of Effy's business that may not exist. This assumption causes misunderstandings and disappointment for otherwise very happy customers. This witholding of information has caused extra work, distress, and disappointment. I am hoping they will continue to work with me to resolve my particuar issues.”
