“Beware Europcar upgrades. I arrived at their Gatwick desk after a 12hr overnight flight, tired and jetlagged. I was subjected to the normal upgrade "hard sell" process and finally agreed what sounded like a good deal. Unfortunately , on final settlement a month later, I discovered I was quoted a base daily rate on the extras form excluding VAT and airport surcharge, which added nearly 40% to the price. At no time during the negotiation did Europcar warn me of this additional cost, but it seems that the estimated total cost appeared in the small print of my rental agreement. Europcar have rejected my complaints that I was misled in the price negotiation.
I am left gbp165 out of pocket and Europcar have lost my (annual UK holiday) custom for good. Make sure you read their small print!!!!”

“So sad that with many things going excellently, this company chooses to ruin the experience at the end. Pick up my car in Rome, Car was beautiful, new, and awesome. Car worked flawlessly and all was great. I returned the car in Florence Italy. It was due back by noon as stated on my rental agreement. Althought difficult to find, I found the return location returned the car, and was told everything was great.
Later I recieved the receipt and was charged an extra day. I did return the car at 21 minutes after noon. I contacted them and was told that they have a 29 minute grace period so I thought I would be fine. But they then told me that I left the garage in Rome 15 minutes before noon so I was over the 29 minute grace period.
Only problem is my reciept said return car by 12:00 noon.
I returned it with more fuel that I left with, but they will not try to handle this in a fair way. Basically they only wanted to capitalize on a full day charge for an additional 7 minutes. Worst Customer service ever. Great car...... Horibble people in the billing department. Not even considering all the other add on charges.

I got a PCN with their car and it turned into hell on earth.
The bombarded me with harassing letters because I have not paid £25 administration fee.
Europe car demanded £65:00 through the Shakespeare Martineau which I was told it was to pay for the PCN. So I have paid £25 plus £65 making it £90 in total.
A month later a still got letter from barking and Dagenham council to pay the same PCN.
when I contacted Europcar, The told me The £65 I paid to them was a fine.
Please be careful when you hire car from them.”
“Rented car in San Juan, PR. The seats were disgustingly stained inside. They should at least invest in seat covers. They have newer cars that are very scratched and banged up outside. I've rented here before and cars we're in better shape.”
“Where do I begin. Car supposed to be delivered at 5.00pm didn’t arrive. Called up said it was on its way. Tried to call again. Shut at 6.00. Still no car. Rang insurance company. Keys posted through door without me knowing. No paper signed. No documents seen. Shocking”
“The car had 30k plus on the clock. Clutch and gearbox needed worked on. Odd sound from engine. Drove it to our destination and left there until our return. Did not excursions. Recommended for 5 people one large suitcase and 4 small. Definitely not large enough. Very uncomfortable in rear.”
