“The only agent in New Zealand that could be contacted, whether by email or phone. No in-country contacts to be found. All customer service contact was from out of country, with individuals who can barely speak English. This refers to Hertz, Budget, Avis, et al. Kudos to Far North Rentals. They haven't forgotten what "Customer Service" really means.”

“The team as Far north rentals saved us with an after hours emegency booking from whangarei airport (i was stuck there after our car was towed back to auckland). I was able to get up far north and spend time with my family over the weekend. Such an easy process, great to deal with!”

“This was our second time renting from Far North. Most recent trip was in October of 2026. Website was user friendly and booking easy. The cars are older, ours was a Yaris this time. Paperwork was ready for us at the airport so only needed to sign and pay. Return just as easy. Staff we interacted with were helpful and friendly. Will definitely use them again when visiting Bay of Islands.”

“Staff were very pleasant. Didn't like the car type. Too low to get in and out of, annoying voice control couldn't turn off. It's not the rental agency it's about me understanding what the car is actually like before arriving so can know to select a different more acceptable one for my journey.”

“Great price and great people to deal with. My travel was delayed and they were more than happy to rescheule and adjust the price. Simple to contact too! Just a phone call and your speaking to the team. Not an app, chatbot, or call centre required. An affortable Excess Reduction as well which actually took the excess down to a low price! Maybe the big international rental firms should do that too. Cherry on the top was being able to put money back into the Northland economy by buying local.”

“A great company to deal with. Communications in the booking stage were very good. Nice car options. Bob was very helpful and professional. the pick up and return was very straightforward. The Toyota RAV4 was very clean inside and out. It drove very well and the GPS and Adaptive Cruise control were fantastic to have. Give these guys a go, great prices and very easy to deal with.”

“Absolutely perfect, family owned business. This is my second time booking with them. It's always worth ditching the big brands and supporting the locals. I really enjoyed the car I got too - it's a shame my visit was so short, it would've been fantastic for a road trip.”
