They have taken our money , have not done any of the work and after chasing them for months have now put themselves into voluntary liquidation. Absolute crooks, now understand they have done the same on many occasions. Paul and Helen Ellison are not to be trusted at all.

The business went into liquidation mid-way through our garden redesign project leaving us with a destroyed garden and circa £25,000 out of pocket. Paul Ellison was uncommunicative and unapologetic throughout, providing zero project management. He finally sent an impersonal email without any apology whatsoever to announce the firm’s liquidation. I wish I had read more reviews of F&H before contracting with them. The original design was ok but pretty uninspiring (mainly just playing back to us what we had described). The firm were happy to take money off us not long before their voluntary liquidation for materials that they then never ordered when they were supposed to. Subsequently we realised that the owners appear to have a track record of liquidating companies and then reappearing with another company trading under a very similar name. I have been involved in many building and renovation projects over the years. Floral & Hardy were far and away the worst company I have ever engaged with. Avoid

I would strongly avoid this company. I never leave negative reviews but I have been pushed to breaking point. I would say that Paul is at best disingenuous- in his own words " a great salesman but the rest of the business is struggling to keep up". The project started late, missed every deadline , with poor communication through out other than when invoices where due - which we at times overstated. Through their poor quality building work they have destroyed the patio area of our garden which will cost thousands to repair. The seats they designed where unusable.and have had to be amended at significant cost. An existing awning has been left usable due to a design error. Plants have needed replacing and their lightening had to be repaired. I have been promised a partial refund (no where near the cost of putting these things right) - which I have now, nearly a month later, been told is delayed due to their accountant being on paternity leave. So different to the pitch. I leave this reviewing hoping to spare others from the same experience - truly dreadful.

Greatly regret using these guys and would not recommend. We contacted F&H to do a complete redesign of our garden and we had problems from the start. Design - the design process was ok, we stated our goals and budget. The design we got back looked good but was 50% over our stated budget. In hindsight the fact you have to pay thousands for the design is clearly leveraged at this point. I didn’t want to walk away from that investment, they rely on that fact, so regrettably we went ahead and agreed a budget 25% higher so we could move forward. Plan - once we agreed to move forward I noticed the plan didn’t align to our garden. The measurements were incorrect materially. I advised F&H of this but they said not to worry. Again another warning sign of their lack of attention to detail / quality Initial layout - once the site was cleared they laid out the design. Given the issues with their plan measurements the design was a mess. We had to highlight this. No proactive management on their behalf and no contrition. If we hadn’t of mentioned the issues I feel they would have proceeded with the incorrect layout. The designer seemed oblivious to their error nor seemed to care. Build - we agreed a build time of 3 months clearly stating we had a deadline to meet. They over ran by 3 months! It was clear within weeks they were behind but the communication process during the build was non existent. They had a an approach of ignoring the issues and hoping we would be happy with that. We had to proactively manage the build and point out issues / errors continually. Again no contrition or acceptance that they were overrunning or there were issues along the way. An apology would have been nice but was not forthcoming. Definitely felt towards the end things were rushed to get the job done. Reality of the design / delivery - now we have lived with the garden for over a year we can see multiple issues. We had 3 clear goals for the garden - the ability to entertain 8 people undercover easily so the kitchen / eating area was useable in all weathers. Whilst we absolutely signed off the plan we naively believed the designer knew what they were doing. The implementation does not give us this ability and layout is compromised. Our mistake was to trust the designer to meet our stated goals and should have been much more involved at the initial stage to ensure the design actually delivered what we needed - the ability to have inbuilt storage (for cushions etc) We have lots of storage BUT it leaks, has inches of water constantly in it making it unusable AND access is massively compromised - none of the cushions actually fit through the access points. As an aside this storage is part of a built in seating / fire pit area. This is virtually unusable as anyone under 6ft3 can’t reach the floor and sit comfortably. - a low maintenance garden with minimal weeding - not delivered (apparently this is our fault as the mood board showed what we’d be getting and from this we should have understood the paths would had weeds growing through…). Quality - from a distance the garden does look good but upon closer inspection we have steps break apart and paths drop so no longer level. The path issue is apparently due to the hot weather last year and not their fault. They promised to come fix the steps last year but have yet to actually return. Numerous plants have died (although to be fair after the 1 year ‘guarantee’.). Minor points - we had to supply extension cables for power as they didn’t have their own. These were then taken by the team at the end of the project and never returned. We had a lighting system installed (as it happens poorly with the majority of the cables visible) with two remote controls - one taken and never returned despite numerous emails requesting the fob be returned. We were offered cash to leave a positive review, we politely declined, at no point did they ask why we weren’t happy to leave a good review!! Think this shows their attitude towards customer service / satisfaction. I’m summary if you very closely manage the design / designer to ensure you actually get a garden design that meets your needs and very closely manage the build process and are happy with minimal customer service then these guys maybe right for you.

My wife and I deeply regret contracting Floral & Hardy for our garden landscaping. Our small garden project remains unfinished 1 year since work commenced. Aspects of the hard landscaping have been built to a low or unserviceable quality and areas of the soft landscaping were subsequently destroyed by the works team after planting. We have also not received various of the items specified in the contract of works nor communication about when these are to be expected. Communications with the business generally during the project have been patchy with many requests going and remaining unaddressed. This has further exacerbated problems with the on-site works team often appearing to operate unsupervised and without any quality control.

Disappointed overall. First with the aftercare service - nonexistent. Promised dead plants replaced if within the year. Some were dead within a month. I won’t hold my breath for the promised annual visit to check on the job one year on. Second - some things were not done as I’d requested and on the job when this was pointed out the design person dIsmissed this as an issue. Eg having lavender as a focus point was in memory of my mum. Instead it was a few planted in with other varieties and the impact lost. Also a climbing structure for the kids was made as a platform with a roof on it and a pretty useless steep ramp instead of an slide. I can’t answer some following questions as they’ve not returned calls or service
