Allianz does not deserve one star .. dreadful experience false promises .. not paying out.. failed promises of phone calls and money being returned. Lousy phone response … eventually speaking to an advisor thought we had it sorted including compensation wrong!!! Only option left is to write to the chief exec I think… even a data breach didn’t illicit a quick response! Will not return or take insurance with Allianz ever!

claim denied bc lady who helped to file a claim advised me to file a claim under the wrong reason. we had to cancel our trip to Peru due to airports being closed, railroad being destroyed to Machu Picchu. i could find an exact reason so i asked for help. the lady said it sounds like civil unrest. i said sure since i had no idea. then i get a claim denial bc civil unrest is not covered. what is wrong with those people !?!

Definitely not recommended. I had a cancelation of my flight due to a weather conditions in the connection airport. I had to purchase another flight on my own through different airline that connected through a different airport, and staying overnight. I ended uppaying way more for flight, hotel, food, which is supposed to be covered by the insurance... 3 months latter they still have no answer or time frame on when this will be done.

There is really no point in a long wordy breakdown to this. Claimed on my travel insurance on the 30th July, they have just responded today (16th December) asking for my policy number and details of my experience to start the claim. Roughly 5 months for a response with a generic "Sorry, we've been a bit busy". They make 3.5 billion Euros a quarter in operating profits, hire some more staff and stop treating your customers like garbage! Make up your own mind, they're not worth my money... Here's hoping I get a response by next July.

This company doesn't even merit one star. I had to cancel a tour due to health reasons. The tour company has a $300 administrative fee for cancellations. They refunded the rest of my money and told me to contact Allianz for the $300. I did file a claim online and submitted many documents about my health condition and the moneys I had paid both Allianz and the Tour company as well as the refund I had received. Two months later I received an email requesting more documentation. Online I could not even locate a record of what I had submitted previously. I agree with everyone below about bad phone experiences -- long wait times, dropped phone calls and no one knowing what another department does or even the company's policies. The customer service rep acknowledged that he could see everything I had filed and it was totally complete. He resent all to their Claims Department. Nothing happened and had to call again; no one could explain why it hadn't been reviewed -- sent on to a senior claims examiner. Finally received an email that all was complete and valid AND they were returning it to my Tour company for payment. This claim just lobs back and forth between the Tour company and the Insurance company. Today Alliaz tells me that they never pay a claim like this. Interesting since none of the other dozen or more Allianz people with whom I've spoken know this "policy." I do recommend good travel insurance but suggest, as I will, that you go elsewhere.

Allianz do not respond to claims. Avoid at all costs, and get insurance elsewhere. It’s now been 5 months since making a claim and there has been no response at all, even after repeated emails and phone calls to follow up.

When you call their customer service, expect to be on hold for a while (it took me 1 hour 45 mins for the last call) before being able to speak with an agent. They had records of my emails to them so they did receive them; they just never bothered to respond. I am still struggling to get any compensation back from Allianz; shameful behaviour and obviously their method of trying to get customers to “give up” during the claim process.

Avoid at all costs, and get your own insurance elsewhere.

Delta cancelled flight due to mechanical issues. We were fortunate that it was the end of our trip to Costa Rica, so we did not pay for Hotel or transportation. Delta pay rebooked us for the next day and pay for accommodations! Now that I file a claim, I was told by Allianz: "What are you claiming since you did not pay for anything". "Trip interruption does not apply in this case". If this was not trip interruption, then what is? Would not buy this coverage again!

I don't know where to begin. Still no money and no further. Claimed in July for travel insurance. Absolutely appalling.

It took Allianz 4 months to process my initial claim which was denied because Allianz had processed the claim under the incorrect insurance provider. It has now been submitted under the correct company but there are issues. When trying to reach someone on the phone, I have waited for over 2 hours on more than one occasion. On one such occasion while on hold, the call was dropped by Allianz and I was forced to call back again to wait yet again. Absolutely terrible customer service for a company who's industry is customer service!

My claim was approved and I was told that a check/checks were in the mail. After three weeks I called them. First of all no one speaks CLEAR english. Today I called 4 times and was disconnected 3 while waiting for a supervisor. Alaska Airlines you need a better company! This company has over $400 of my money and I am paying for what I put on my credit card. So far I have been told 3 different stories. This may have to go to small claims court! This company is beyond bad!!

After years of paying landlord insurance when I claimed for malicious damage it was denied as being poor housekeeping. If the carpet had been used for graffiti it would have been paid, but as it was damaged by the apparent dropping of a substance which was not cleaned, the claim was denied. Do not insure with this company as the claim will be denied under the terms of "what it will not pay". Zero stars if possible.

This company is so segmented that one portion doesn't know what the other is doing. Long-term care insurance-go somewhere else. They continually lose documents, have an annoying phone tree, and can't reference something that was sent somewhere else in their company. Nothing but hassles! Not just once, every. Single. Month.

We had a flight cancelled through American Airlines for “air traffic control” and American rebooked the flight for the next day, which was unacceptable since we had to get back to work the following day. The claim was for $1500 since it included the original flight and the new flight we had to book through delta to make it home in time. After waiting over a month for our claim to be reviewed, it got denied because “air traffic control is not a covered reason under the insurance”. What is the point in even buying insurance if they aren’t going to pay out for a COVERED reason??? Every time we talk to Allianz on the phone, each person gives us different answers. First we didn’t have all of the documents. Then we filed under the wrong reason. Then a document was missing again. It’s like they jump through hoops to find any reason to avoid paying their customers. Absolute waste of money, no wonder Allianz has been sued before and probably will be in the future if they are going to continue to scam people.

Dishonest and do their best to avoid paying claims. Our genuine claim was voided on a technicality beyond our control. A truly abominable and unscrupulous company with no ethics or compassion. Purely there to make money. We have avoided taking out their insurance ever since and hope any readers of this review will stay clear, as when it comes to it they will use all their resources to avoid paying. Insurance is notorious for this, but they have to be the worst...

The most ignorant organisation I have ever tried to deal with. They don't answer emails and short payed me on a third party claim. Totally untrustworthy.

My daughter had comprehensive insurance with Allianz for 6years. Unfortunately she had an accident and when she submitted her claim was told that she wasn’t insured. Apparently for 1 monthly payment there were insufficient funds in her account. The next month Allianz tried to take 2 payments which is not approved so were unsuccessful. They supposedly sent a letter to notify that they were cancelling cover which was never received. They didn’t phone, message or email to notify myself or my daughter even though they had our details. One phone call and payment would have been made. We had no idea that insurance was cancelled. My daughter is a responsible person and was in recovery from a second bout of cancer. Allianz did not notify us of the problem, gave no opportunity to put things right and took no responsibility for their inadequate notification procedure. Totally heartbreaking experience. Do not believe the promises they make in their advertising, they do not care.

Allianz's accident car repair system is very inconvenient. Before repairing the car, you have to leave the car to the car repair shop all day to determine the repair estimate for the car due to the accident, but even if you pay extra for the rental car add on in your insurance, Allianz doen't service a rental car on that day. Another insurance company covers the accident vehicle with insurance based on the report received from the car repair center. Also, Allianz don't consider appointments with customers important. On the day I left the car to the repair shop, Allianz's assessor didn't show up at the appointment without any notice. Because of this, I couldn't make a daily wage, I had to spend my money for Uber, and I had to waste my day. Also, since I haven't been inspected, I have to make another appointment to repair my car, and I have to leave my car for another day with same loss. With this inconvenient system, I have to find a better insurance company.
